I just gotta bring this to the top to see what title Pep comes up with next!!
Now how do we get "Texans" back in the title?
As a native Texan who's a long way from home, this thread has really made me homesick. Is it going to be a good year for bluebonnets?

Pep,
Are you sure you don't have some Texas roots on your family tree? With enough hairspray, I think you'd fit right in.

Dalson please tell me you didn't eat any of that monster fish? That water is about as brown as mud. You need to fish up here in Lake Superior where the water is as clear and blue as a pretty girls eyes.
Oh my lord just looking at that water and that ugly monster fish is about to make me lose my breakfast. Gross!
And you do look about as redneck as they come.
I use to work in Chickasha OK... Dallas too. Actually camped on Lake Texoma, until those nasty little fire ants took over our tent. We did go out in the boat fishing before we hightailed it out of there though. Had to use blood clots for bait. Yuck I went along with the grossest things in my early twenties. What was I thinking???? [ February 24, 2005, 04:34 AM: Message edited by: weaver ]

this morning I woke up to three inches and more falling of beautiful white stuff everywhere... the moon is full and still hanging around to kiss the tops of the pines tree so that they are glowing ....
there is now a two hour delay so the kids are celebrating in their pajamas...
it's calm and peaceful looking right out my window...
soon the bird feeder will be full of winter birds
no matter what Texas has.....it don't have that...
these are the types of mornings that inspire painters or poets... to roll over and go right back to sleep..

Dalson has snow! It might be 80 degrees out here in east Texas, but the panhandle gets snow! So there!
Yes, Dalson, that was on Lake Michigan where he caught that salmon. When I lived up there we always had a freezer full of fresh salmon and trout. YUM! Not as good as a good catfish, though.

WEAVER- no i didnt eat any of the fish, that pic was e-mailed to me from a friend, the fish was put in an aquarium down by lake texoma. but i am eating the deer, had some last night.
mel- those are nice , i have always wanted to go salmon fishing.
i have a funny story for yall, yesterday i was dropping a friend off at the airport and we were going through security at the airport when you pull in and we were sitting in line in my truck talking about spring turkey season coming up and i realized my shot gun was under my back seat, he is a school teacher and was freaking out, but to make a long story short the lady that checked my truck was about 4'10 and the bottom of my truck window is 5' and she had to stand on her tip toes to look through the window of my truck and in the bed, she couldnt even see what color my seat was moreless under it. homeland security at its finest [ February 24, 2005, 10:03 AM: Message edited by: dalson ]

Are Texans "Southerners" ? Nawwww... but I bet some of these apply... Just got this on e-mail, and figured this was a good thread for it.
Only a Southerner knows the difference between a hissie fit and a conniption fit, and that you don't "HAVE" them, you "PITCH" them. _____ Only a Southerner knows how many fish, collard greens, turnip greens, peas, beans, etc., make up "a mess." _____ Only a Southerner can show or point out to you the general direction of "yonder." _____ Only a Southerner knows exactly how long "directly" is -- as in: "Going to town, be back directly." _____ Even Southern babies know that "Gimme some sugar" is not a request for the white, granular sweet substance that sits in a pretty little bowl in the middle of the table. _____ All Southerners know exactly when "by and by" is. They might not use the term, but they know the concept well. _____ Only a Southerner knows instinctively that the best gesture of solace for a neighbor who's got trouble is a plate of hot fried chicken and a big bowl of cold potato salad. If the neighbor's trouble is a real crisis, they also know to add a large banana puddin! _____ Only Southerners grow up knowing the difference between "right near" and "a right far piece." They also know that "just down the road" can be 1 mile or 20. _____ Only a Southerner, both knows and understands, the difference between a redneck, a good ol' boy, and po' white trash. _____ No true Southerner would ever assume that the car with the flashing turn signal is actually going to make a turn. _____ A Southerner knows that "fixin" can be used as a noun, a verb, or an adverb. _____ Only Southerners make friends while standing in lines. We don't do "queues," we do "lines"; and when we're "in line," we talk to everybody! _____ Put 100 Southerners in a room and half of them will discover they're related, even if only by marriage. _____ Southerners never refer to one person as "ya'll." _____ Southerners know grits come from corn and how to eat them. _____ Every Southerner knows tomatoes with eggs, bacon, grits, and coffee are perfectly wonderful; that red eye gravy is also a breakfast food; and that fried green tomatoes are not a breakfast food. _____ When you hear someone say, "Well, I caught myself lookin'," you know you are in the presence of a genuine Southerner! _____ Only true Southerners say "sweet tea" and "sweet milk." Sweet tea indicates the need for sugar and lots of it -- we do not like our tea unsweetened. "Sweet milk" means you don't want buttermilk. _____ And a true Southerner knows you don't scream obscenities at little old ladies who drive 30 MPH on the freeway. You just say, "Bless her heart" and go your own way. _____ To those of you who're still a little embarrassed by your Southerness: Take two tent revivals and a dose of sausage gravy and call me in the morning. Bless your heart! _____ And to those of you who are still having a hard time understanding all this Southern stuff, bless your hearts, I hear they are fixin' to have classes on Southernness as a second language! _____ And for those that are not from the South but have lived here for a long time, ya'll need a sign to hang on ya'lls front porch that reads "I aint from the South but I got here as fast as I could." _____ Bless your hearts, ya'll have a blessed day. _____ [ February 24, 2005, 09:50 AM: Message edited by: Faith1 ]

My dad and all his people were from the south. Southern Missouri (south to us) and your post makes me miss them. Best childhood vacations I had were down there. Everyone in town would come by just to say "hi" when they heard so and so had family visiting. [ February 24, 2005, 10:07 AM: Message edited by: weaver ]
