Pep, I love this thread. NOW can everyone see how Iditoville took off with a life of it's own. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

I believe Aussie is right even if he did talk in kms. Western Australia is a mighty, mighty big state.

Well for all my Texas friends who think they live in a big state..... hehehehe some facts to keep you real........ lol <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="images/icons/tongue.gif" />

Texas is 267,339 square miles & is 10% of the land area of the USA
Western Australia is more than 1,553,500 sq miles & occupies more then 34% of the continent. It spans 1,500 miles from north to south and over 1000 miles east to west.

Its capital Perth is closer to Singapore and Jakarta than it is to Canberra … Woo Hoo now THAT’S a blessing!!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />
From its tropical north, to temperate Mediterranean areas in its south-west corner, Western Australia experiences a variety of climatic conditions.
With distance from the coast, rainfall decreases and temperature variations are more pronounced & we have some of the hotest deserts in the world.

Mean monthly maximum temperatures range from 62ºF in July to 86ºF in February, though lately its been 100 F in the freaking shade. Even in the coldest months, minimum temperatures rarely fall below 41ºF - EXCEPT at Mount Bluff Knoll & Bridgetown where it gets below freezing - tell me about it. Most of its 31.5 inches annual rainfall occurs in the winter months - if we are lucky and get any.
But most importantly Perth averages eight hours sunshine per day and 118 clear days per year, AND has the highest number of breweries per head of population in the world. Well surprise surprise … I wonder why that is????
<img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

"Oh the eyes of Texas are upon me" singing along is ok ....lol

Kimmy , How did you know I say "aig" instead of "egg" like some toff. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

Now this is what I call ennatainmet and edyukashunal all rolled into one thread!

Now I always knew the stars at night are big and bright....deep in the heart of Texas, but I didn't know much about the Australian outback, except they serve great steak and bloomin' onions.

Pep, If you really want this thread to die, I predict if I post a couple more times, it'll be deader than a doorknob. I'm psychotic that like that you know <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

Of course they were freedom fighters whereas all I did was liberate a box of flares and woke up 3000 lazy soldiers ...but all the flare were very colourful as they went off from what I can sort of remember. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="images/icons/tongue.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="images/icons/cool.gif" />

Ahhhh! The beauty of Texas. This morning on the way to work I:

Rode a ferry to an island to drop my boy at grandma's house.

While on the ferry, we got to count the dolphins as they were playing (12).

We saw a flock of brown pelicans floating in the marina...they were so serene.

On the way back over the ferry I saw 3 roseates....and they must be eating lotsa shrimps b/c they were BRIGHT pink!

I saw a few more dolphins playing....

I love TEXAS!

Now, Now, Kimmy! Did you tell them that it was 90 degrees here on Wednesday and today's high is supposed to be a mere 51 degrees! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />

Yup, that's Texas!

Would be nice to get down to 90 or so for a while.
Dolphins we have lots.

They come up to the beach and you can pat them and feed them, of course so do the white pointers and though I've patted one they are not cute or nice <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="images/icons/tongue.gif" />

Sea lions and seals are also on the islands and shores around Perth too.

You haven't seen a sunset or sunrise until you see one up in the far North in the Dreaming time land ......... you can be the only person in 1000's of kms I could go live like a bushy up there.

Damn Croc's are a bugger though. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="images/icons/tongue.gif" />

</font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">We don't have crocs, but we have gators. They scare the bejeebers out of me....

I know I've told this story before, but Nio gets called out to "gator in the road" calls all the time. Says he drives out to the site, then radios back, "Yep, it's a gator." Told him if I ever find out he gets out of his patrol unit, he won't have to worry bout the gators!

He tells me I don't have to worry...he always has Parks & Wildlife come get them and take them back to the State Park.

(shuddering)
