I'm back from a few day hiatus - had to go to Vegas and left my laptop here in LA...

I am heading home to Texas in just a few days - woohoo! (or more appropriately, yee-ha!)

Did I mention that my family actually owns longhorns? How Texan is that for you? - One of them is even named "Texana"

Our property is near La Grange - of the Chicken Ranch fame - I am sure looking forward to checking out the Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrushes this year!

Oh, and I actually prefer my tea unsweetened. I guess its because I grew up in the big city....

Those of us who didn't own their own horses at least had friends and family that do.

Some of us even cut class just to ride. Not namin' names, just statin' a fact.

Ya'll are startin' to lag a little, here postin' thangs 'bout the GREAT STATE. I remember living in Germany where My H was posted singing to Tanya Tucker and goin' to Texas rather than Heaven.
Don't let this acknowledge die out. Texas is a state of mind that those of us from Texas can never explain to others.
I remember joking, there are Yankees and D__n Yankees. Do you know the difference? Yankees are the ones who come to visit and go back where they cam from. D__n Yankees are the ones who come to Texas and stay .

All I know is I have lived in other states and other countries, and I'll never live anyplace else but Texas again.

Texasgirl -

You are so right. We have lived in Philly for 4 years, now the People's Republic of California, and we both can't wait to be back in the great State of Texas. Two days and counting for me....my WW will be following in about 4 months.

Although I will be moving to Galveston for a couple of months...so not really the homecoming I was hoping for....

There ain't no damnyankees on this board, BTW.

You guys sure love Texas and the south! LOL

Me too, but that little "dot" in the new title may just be Pep putting the last "nail" in this thread's coffin.

Personally I say go for 500.

This must be Texas! Something just blew in, and my nose started running and my throat closed up.

Yep. Gotta love spring here!

OK, full circle here, folks. My wife and I went to dinner last night at the TexAZ Grill, which we've heard about for probably 20 years but never visited. They're reputed to have the best Chicken Fried Steak in Arizona (it's not, but oh well)

So we walk in - they've got all of this Texas decor in it - it looks like a set from "The Last Picture Show" - kinda funky cafe' booths and posters of Ernest Tubb and Chili Cookoffs, etc.. I look to my right and guess whose campaign poster is staring me in the face - Yep, The Kinkster.

Yesterday I was waiting for my mom to drop DS off at a meeting spot. I picked up a book review in a newspaper from about 2 weeks ago. The book? Yep. Kill Two Birds and Get Stoned.
