Let us know how you all are.
Horrible stories of the rains and mudslides, etc.

total rainfall last winter season = 4 inches
this year (so far, 'taint over yet) = 33 inches (and that's in the downtown area .... the foothills have had waaaaay more
It's interesting. I can say with complete confidence, our roof doesn't leak! I've never seen so many dead earthworms
One giant pothole in the road is 200 feet wide and about 50 feet deep .... sadly a man working for the city was killed there trying to help stop the hole from enlarging. He and his truck fell in when the hole widened.
It is interesting to see Bel Air hillside pools tumbing down the hill ... I confess to watching that with interest. Why the hell are they allowed a permit to dig a pool on a steep hillside anyway???
Did you know we have lots of homes with backyards built completely on stilts? With concrete tennis courts even!
Oh well ... bye bye pool and tennis court.

Lots of rain, hail that stayed in our yard for almost 24 hours, mud in the basement but safe..thanks for asking. Horrible to see some things though. Young woman killed by a boulder while sitting at her computer, a woman stuck in the shower full of mud up to her waist for an hour waiting to be rescued. Many, many hillside houses falling or threatening to fall. Triple the number of traffic accidents because we just are not used to driving in the rain.

We had lots of rain and wind but thankfully no tornado's, downed powerlines or trees. My dogs are a mess, which means my house is a mess but everyone is safe.
BTW, if you live in So. Cal. did you see how gorgeous the mountains look this morning? They are totally covered with snow and it's absolutely beautiful.
I agree with you Pep, why anyone would build a home on stilts up in the foothills is beyond me. I would worry about one good earthquake bringing it all down, as well as mudslides.
I wonder how 2long's home is holding up with the repairs and all. Anybody know? 2long - where are you?

Greetings from LaLa land. Home to the Governator. (Formerly home to Governor Moonbeam for all of you oldies)
Thank you for all of your concern.
Cwmac still here. House hasn't floated away nor has it fallen off the slight hill that we are on.
For all so Cal newbies, most of the nice houses are either on a hill or a beach/harbor. You want a million $ view to go along with the multi $$ price tag.
Chackler is right the view of the San Gabriel Mountains from LA & OC was phenominal this a.m.

cwmac-
We live kind of in the hills, there are homes much higher up than us. Thankfully if one ever came down it wouldn't affect us. I worry about fires though, that could be very bad.
I think if I could afford it I would move higher up but it would have to be on level land, and really set into the hill, no stilts thank you. Then of course you have to watch what you plant so you don't invite fires into your backyard.

Chackler, I'm down in OC in a beach city so we have hills but most of the houses have flat lots. Well excepting Laguna Bch.
I remember some of those stilt houses in Glendale area. No thanks.
How about those rainbows? Did you make a wish?
Take care,
Mac

Laguna has problems with slides too, doesn't it? How about Mission Viejo?
Without giving too much info on the board we live off the 605 freeway, so we are on the border of OC & LA counties.
The rainbows have been gorgeous. Day before yesterday I saw a double rainbow and it was very bright. I could live with more rainbows...
My hubby works in Glendale - that area got pelted with the storms. You are right, I will pass on those Glendale stilt homes.

Chackler, Mid cities, eh? That's ok no need to give up any anonymity. Glad to see you and H are recovering.
Hemidart, Another male BH here in so Cal. I was beginning to think that everyone in so Cal was wayward or formerly wayward.
How is recovery going?

Pep - I thought you lived in the valley.
I could make a joke about the valley being the porn capital of the world, but I won't.

Recovery is going suprisingly smooth. W and I had been married 10+ years when she moved out because she was sick of the situation we were in. Turned out she was also sick of having a failed A also, which because of her massive guilt she decided to tell me of on Christmas 2004. When she left I had just thought it was a bad marriage and did everything I could to change parts of me that she had problems with. We both lost a crap load of weight and basically fell in love again...well after her fog lifted anyway. So it was nice to of fixed our marriage without the A hanging over my head. So overall I would say it's doing very well.
Honestly if D-Day was while the A was still alive....well lets just say I might be doing time right now. People that know me know I would of gone straight after the OM.
Still I do think about it and become depressed, but she has been great in doing everything needed to make me feel better. She helped me feel I made the right choice in staying with her.
