UPDATE:

Having an OK day...

Kind of bothers me a little that in order to save my Marriage and see to it that my FWW stays that way. I have to pick up and move my family away from friends and loved one's and a nice home.

Hmmmmmmm

But then again my love for Cindy is worth it..

Whats that saying....

I'll cross the widest ocean for your love...

Ok, here's my quit smoking story. Sorry, you probably know what's coming, given my bible-thumping persona on this site, but it's all true.

I had tried to quit smoking many many times. You've all heard that joke right? "I can quit smoking anytime I want; I've done it a hundred times."

The problem was, I would finally work myself up to quit, which took a lot just to get there and then find out it wasn't really that bad to actually quit, it was making the decision that was tough. So I would stop for a week, or 2 weeks, or a couple of months and then we'd be out in a bar or playing cards and someone would light up and the cigarettes would start talking to me, "Ken, baby, you've been really good. You deserve a reward. Just have one cigarette as your reward for being so good." So then I would start cheating a little, a cigarette now and then, only on the weekends, only bummed off of someone else, don't buy a pack, don't buy a pack, DON"T BUY A PACK! AAAAARG! OK, &%#& it! Give a me pack of Marlboros. Then I'd be right back up to a pack and a half a day.

So, what finally worked (I haven't smoked since 1987) was two things; the realization that I could not cheat at all, very much comparable to the MB concept of absolute NC for life, and before I actually quit, I prayed to God, told Him that I knew that he wanted me to quit but I was not strong enough on my own, so I asked Him to "quit me". I prayed about this for a few weeks without actually taking any steps towards quitting; just asked Him to do it.

Then one day, I had to go get my vehicle tested for emissions. I was waiting in the line when to my horror I realized that I was out of cigarettes. It was then that I realized that this was it, that this was the day that I was going to quit smoking forever.

1987 <------- Sweet ------- I think it's awesome everytime I hear a success story on quiting the Bad habit.

I feel like a horrible Dad because -No Joke- my 5 yr old keeps begging me to quit becaue he loves me.

Maybe if all of you pray for me, A ciggerette truck will break down in front of my house....LOL

Only kidding...Maybe a few prayers from all of you will help me find the courage to quit.

Michael,
You know, I hope you don't find this comment in bad taste, BUT, I am reminded of the movie "Airplane" right now. Remember Lloyd Bridges, who said, "Looks like I picked the wrong day to quit smoking? (or quit sniffing glue, or drinking, etc.)"

I think you have enough going on right now without trying to quit smoking too.

Thought you might like a little laugh this afternoon,

Actually, now that you mention the movie Airplane, I think Michael reminds me of the pilot, Striker (character name - I forget his real name). I can picture Michael pouring the glass of wine over his ear (remember that scene?) from all the confusion he's been in lately.

Sorry, Michael, I was getting on the bandwagon for the humor. Did we make you laugh?

Love in Christ,
Y

Been hiding in Idiotville. It is hard for me to come out of there because of all the anguish that is going on.

Grats again, you have come a long way from a few months ago.

I really hope you 2 can work things out and have a wonderful life together. After all learning to do that despite growing up **cked up is what life is all about.

LOL, I think that aptly describes many of the folks we have met in these forums.

Add carmel hohos to the mix and I am out the door ready to buy all the neccessary ingrediants.

Well the truth be told it's nice to be able to laugh at these situations even when your having a bad day.

I don't know why but I feel just wonderful all of a sudden ... Maybe it's the CARMEL Ho'Ho's

Yep, that would be my guess. There is something magical about them.

Just click your heals together 3 times and eat a carmel ho ho and life will be back on track...

ooppss, I've said that outside of Idiotville.

Yes, I do remember Striker in Airplane with the drinking problem (he couldn't get the drink in his mouth!!).

Well Michael, smoke away and enjoy the ho-ho's if it helps. One step at a time is all I'm saying.

As for me, my poison is these GD girlscout cookies. Boxes and boxes of thin mints everywhere I go. "Building hearts and minds of girls," and putting 10 pounds on me. Looks like I picked the wrong year to give up cookies.

I had a great night until I closed my eye's...

the nightmares came in force. All of them were with XOM and FWW..

The worst one was me walking in and catching them doing the SF dance in my bed...

These dreams wake me up in cold sweats...

Anyone have a trick to deal with these creatures of thought...

Hard to control your dreams, Michael.

How's Cindy? We do care how it is for her too. She knows that, right?

I've been told journaling is a good way to get over the movies.

Good luck with this one. It is a bugger these should-be-banned type movies.
