DS is having surgery for the 2nd time in 2 weeks. I'm sending a care package to him. Each item has a yellow sticky note attached.

1. A small tin of Atomic Fireballs with, "Don't sweat the small stuff."

2. The movie The Day After Tomorrow with, "Do not worry about the past. It's what you do today that defines who you are tomorrow."

3. A blue peep plushy bunny with, "Give a peep. Care. Be kind. If you pass today, do you want to be remembered as who you ARE, or only for what you've done?"

4. A sketch diary and crayola mini twistables (very nummy smooth crayons) with, "Carry your art in your soul so that you may always enjoy it in your life."

5. A new wallet with, "The things you put in here are not the most important things in your life. Those you carry in your heart."

6. A wind up hopping frog with, "You WILL kiss frogs before you find your princess, so enjoy the scenery and have fun."

7. A Cadbury carmel egg with, "Everyone lays an egg once in awhile. Only the best of us can make it into a chocolate egg."

8. A funky stuffed rooster with, "Don't get cocky. It WILL peck you in the butt."

9. Pink Floyd prisim sleep trousers with, "When life sucks, sit back, relax, and ROCK ON!"

10. Finally, a white chocolate bunny with Lemondash and Faith's, "The bean does not define the chocolate...it's what's done with the bean...it's the texture and the taste that define it. How are you defined, my son? Think on it.

There is another sticky with a PS on the bunny that said, "This one is also cause we all need a chocolate bunny sometimes."

I love that kid.

Kimmy, you really awe me with the depth of your love and how you express it. Hope the surgery goes well and he recovers quickly. I am biased, but especially love Lemon's quote with the chocolate bunny.

Kimmy,

I rarely post but read here pretty much daily and I ABSOLUTELY love reading your posts. You are so insightful, caring, loving and just a downright good person all around considering everything you've been through. You are my inspiration, I tell ya. What you did for your DS#1 is awesome, I know he'll love it (may not tell you -- I know my 15-year-old dd wouldn't tell me) but he will. You're truly a blessing!!!

Y'all - you see that glow coming from the general direction of Texas? That would be me....

Sunflower, you made me blush dearie. Thank you...that's about the sweetest...OY! Okay. I'm teary...Thank you so much.

It's been so hard, but it was/is worth it for me.

Oh, and sunflowers are my absolute favorite flower. Even the scrub sunflowers that grow by the side of the road are a gift, I think. I love how their faces follow the sun....

It's not too schmaltzy. I would change #9 so it says just "ROCK" rather than "ROCK ON".

Haw, haw. Really though, I'm serious.

Kimmy,

And that would be my absolute favorite flower as well -- nothing more beautiful than a sunflower -- I'd prefer a bouquet of them over roses or anything else for that matter any old day -- Sunflowers and the Ocean my two favorite things!! You're awesome!

kimmy~

If I promise to go through the proper copyright channels, can I use your list next year for my first child away at college? I'd change up a few things, ie: Maroon 5 instead of Pink Floyd, but otherwise, it'd work for my child too!!

Schmaltzy??--oh yeah, but we're moms~~we're entitled to a little schmaltziness, right?!?

Sending well wishes and prayers for your son!

Lovely....

I never did understand that 'bean' quote tho. Some of us Brits are thick.

I dunno Sunny...I do love white daisies.... I think when it comes to flowers, I prefer the KISS method over big huge productions. I like snapdragons, too. They are so fun to "snap" at the kids.

Loved Sunflowers perfume...one of the firsts that dh bought for me. Anything that smells clean and soapy has my vote in the perfume section...

All-I dunno why...but I am almost giddy about going home. Ten years ago right now, I was giddy because the next day Nio and I were gonna be married. His "real" gift hasn't come yet, but while I was at the other $100 Store (Target), I bought him a scrapbook. He's been telling me he wants me to scrap a book with memories of his job. So, I'll give that to him even though there is something more special coming...

Hey De! I love the care package contents! You really are an inspiration, and you amaze me with your upbeat attitude! I pray that your son's surgery goes ok (or went ok and has no complications, in case it's over by now)!

You rock!

Of course, AD. I miss your "voice." Wish you'd post more often. I'm sure there's a vacancy in I'ville somewhere....

NOW* - thank you! He's probably at the hosp. right now...poor guy had the last surgery of the day...he's gonna be soooo hungry and grumpy when he gets home...don't envy his papa one bit there! Wish I could've been there, but because of the nature of the surgery and the surgery site (and probably because I'm a smart a$$ who can't let a good punchline slide) I got the pic that mom's weren't welcome...only dads.

Oh Kimmy I love your package. You have such good ideas and I steal all of them you know! In fact if I could I would come down there and steal you. Then I would bring you up here to my little town just so we could have a little sunshine every day!

You and yours will be in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow.

My voice was pretty vocal here on GQ today. Not too sure about posting on GQ. I feel like a little fish swimming amongst big~~or something like that, lol. Thanks for the kind words though!
