KJB,

I don't think it wise to talk about WS's past filing peccadillos on a forum that his family and possibly others know about.

I would edit ASAP.

The rest of your questions can be answered by a CPA. Get to know one and start a business relationship with him/her. They would be in the best position to advise joint/separate filings and any other questions you might have as a sole proprietor
