On another thread, a poster, Senator H says that according to something they've read, that when a married couple have been separated for longer than 2 months, only %5 of marriages recover.

Sounds low but does anybody know more about this?

I don't generally rely on statistics for the most part.

My H and I were seperated for 3 months and I know of ALOT of others both here on MB and personally that have been seperated for longer and have reconsiled.

Seems to me it would depend on the nature of the separation, wouldn't it?

My FWH has lived out of our home for two months now. *BUT* we are in MC/IC, he is here all the time, we are both actively working on the M and the goal is reconcilliation...

So, I would assume our "chances" are higher than say, people who are living apart and leading independent lives for that time.

I doubt that statistic has any supportable basis.

Here's an interesting stat quoted by Frank Pittman in "Private Lies" - five years from the onset of an affair, it's more likely the original partners will be back together than the affair partners will still be together.

And here's one that is irrefutable: Half of all marriage counselors are below average. <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

My H and I were seperated for over 6 months and now we are working on recovery. I don't think you can really put a time line on this sort of thing. When we were seperated for 1 month I searched for people who got back together after 1 month, then one month became two, became three, you get the idea.

That's encouraging kloe72. :-)

Today marks 11 weeks since WSO moved out and 10 days since I found out about A. Next week would be our cutoff if that stat. had bearing... unless we were in that teeeny-tiny margin? Let's demand a scatter plot. That stat probably has a 68 percent error. :-)

I have read that 78.26% of all statistics are made up as they are being written.
