OK this is an oldie BUT a goodie .... and I'll be doing it - God willing - all over AGAIN soon ....
So HAPPY MOTHER DAY all you Mums..................
You know you're a mom when...
You count the sprinkles on each kid's cupcake to make sure they're equal.
You want to take out a contract on the kid who broke your child's favourite toy and made him/her cry.
You have time to shave only one leg at a time.
You hide in the bathroom to be alone, and make sure the door is locked.
You child throws up, and you catch it.
Someone else's kid throws up at a party, and you keep eating.
You consider finger paint to be a controlled substance.
You mastered the art of placing large quantities of pancakes and eggs on a plate without anything touching.
Your child insists that you read Once Upon a Potty out loud in the lobby of the doctor's office, or, better yet, in the lobby of your husbands work place... and you do it.
You hire a sitter because you haven't been out with your husband in ages, then spend half the night talking about and ringing up checking on the kids.
You hope ketchup is a vegetable because it's the only one your child eats.
You cling to the high moral ground on toy weapons, while your child chews his toast into the shape of a gun.
You can't bear the thought of your son's first girlfriend.
You hate the thought of his wife even more.
You donate to charities in the hope that your child won't get that disease.
You find yourself cutting your husband's sandwiches into unusual shapes.
You fast-forward through the scene when the hunter shoots Bambi's mother, always.
You use your own saliva to clean your child's face.
You obsess when your child clings to you upon parting during his first month at school, then obsess even more when he skips in without looking back the second time.
You can't bear to give away baby clothes -- it's so final.
You hear your mother's voice coming out of your mouth when you say, "Not in your good clothes!" or “Make sure you wear clean undies in case you have an accident!”
You stop criticizing the way your mother raised you.
You read that the average five year old asks 437 questions a day and feel proud that your kid is WAYYYY above average.
You say at least once a day, "I'm not cut out for this job", but you know you wouldn't trade it for anything in the world...
Nope and I wouldn't either!!!

Life may feel as if you are constantly getting kicked on a daily basis, living is about picking yourself up each day and going on and on and on regardless.

Well, you beat me to the punch in posting this thread. But you did it with great style. I'm gonna print this up and include it with the mothers day cards.
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY ALL YOU MOMS (and Dads who are currently filling that role as well)

"Pride can break a man right down from iron.
Twist him 'round 'round and tatter up a soul
Handprint of God on the small of my back
my second chance, my second chance.
I'll bend a knee my friend, I'll bend a knee...
Lay It Down say it's all my fault, all my fault.
Say I believe, I believe lay it down.
This the hour of my healing, of my healing,
yeah my heart, my heart redeemed."

I've just had one of the nicest Mother's Day ever. No WH to sulk around that it wasn't HIS day! No sullen cleaning of the house while I sip coffee and read the morning paper.
Nope, did it alone...mostly. I invited my Inlaws up. WH didn't even CALL his mother. They were very happy to come visit. DD and I clean up the house. It wasn't perfect. We didn't even get the front room vaccuumed but nobody cared. I even found our 2003 tax returns that WH had boxed and thrown into the basement when he scurried to clear out the house last Mother's Day.
My DS#1 called from California. DS#2 sanded all my teak patio furniture for oiling and bought me an orchid. DD gave me breakfast in bed and concocted a treasure hunt to the present she'd made for me. My FIL showed me how to fix my electrical outlet. My MIL and I got dinner together and drank wine.
How blessed I am and what a wonderful day it was. I mourn the stages we pass as my kids grow up but each day is an adventure. As they get older, they become more interesting and companionable.
Happy Mother's Day to all...mother or not!
Grapes are versatile. Grapes can be sour, sweet, sublime as wine and fabulous even when old and dried out.
