POsted on behalf of SoSorryGreen

"I feel the pain of hurting my husband and putting him through a year of hurt. He is set at getting a D. He is away and has been for the past 2 years. He tried to make me see that I was getting myself in too deep with this other man. I came around too late he says. Hard to build love up again with someone you hurt when they are not here. Its only been 1 month since I came around. He says he does not want to hurt me and he plans on taking care of me until I get my feet on the ground, but he wants a D. He is too good of a man to have been put through this and I really want him to heal for himself. I want to work on the marriage, but he doesnt. He has been on this website. He says I should talk to aussieswife. I would like any advice I can get. "

Hi Sorry,

I moved you here so the fine folks won't miss your post <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

First and mostly - it's only been a month, and you need to work on yourself. You will have ALOT of shame, and guilt to get through if you truely are sorry. You are no good to your husband like this.

I often fear that it may be too late, that eventually H will want to leave, but as the fine folks here say - it's consistancy - he wants to know it won't happen again.

The only way your H will know that is if you get help for yourself. Figure out WHY you had the affair, why you didn't listen to your hsband when he warned you about getting into deep. KNOW all the ins and outs as to HOW you got into the mess, and make CHANGES to yourself. Learn how to better yourself, learn your weaknesses and get safeguards in place in case all those circumstances arise again.

Make sure he knows how sorry you are, and make sure he knows how much love him. Don't do anything that will be comprimising, that might even mean being alone with a mutual male friend. This is not the time. You have weaknesses and mistakes and you need to fix those before you are ever exposed to that again.

Ultimately - it's up to your H now, and you don't have any say. It a concequece to your actions, and he is right, it is too late. BUT he can chose to give it a chance. But if you don't figure all the stuff out above and MAKE the changes, you won't survive that chance.

Good luck!

-ds
