My husband and I have been married for almost 2 years, and have a 7 month baby. Not much time we had to build a relationship without pregnancy/baby. We are from different cultures and every time we disagree on something I tend to blame it in our cultural difference. He 'needs' to go out several times a week for drinks and all to have time for himself.
Whenever fun is on his mind it means heading out to his friends' or mine, always without us or me. Always single friends in a very different lifestyle, who don’t help at all.
I understand about personal needs, we all have them, but instead of being better or working out for our relationship, seems to make it worse when he comes back.
I feel like me and our son represent all the responsibilities he has and when I try and talk to him about this he says he is thrilled with his life with me and being a father, but then gets suffocated about spending a weekend with us.
He urges me to go out all the time but I don’t need to go sit in a bar, those are just not my needs
Am I the one mistaken?
Please help me

FromFar,

Repost this on the Emotional Needs or General Questions II forum. Those sections have a lot of posters hanging around there and you'll get lots of replies there. I hang around the EN forum. I've established some friendships there and have gotten a lot of great advice when it comes to getting my needs met. Which sounds like something that is missing in your marriage.

Dr. Harley is a firm believer in a couple getting at least 15 hours a week of each others undivided attention.

Have you read the basic concepts of this site? I think that would be a great start for you. Repost your thread and let the good people here guide ya.

Take care. Oh and congrats on your new baby. They are what it is all about. Just my opinion.
