If you've followed my previous post, you know there is a question of a certain STD that my wife was diagnosed with around Sept 04. The particular disease is different than most, in that you can have an "occurance" years after initially being infected. Still the average person will show symptoms around 3 to 6 months after "contact". My wife claims no sexual contact with the OM.
Tonight we were watching "Gray's Anatomy" on ABC. It was about secrets and a STD. It mentioned something about how this will ruin a relationship and of course I said something stupid. In counseling, the Doctor said that if it came back up that I should make it clear that it is very unlikely that she got this from me. That I should ask her if she thinks I was unfaithful. Scientifically speaking, it's almost impossible for her to have an occurance 12 years after my last encounter.
So I told her how hurtful it was for her to blame me and that I most likely did not give it to her since my last sexual encounter was over 12 years ago.
She went crazy, she said she was going to divorce me and that she got this disease from me. Again I told her that is very unlikely and that I feel that I am owed an apology for her blaming me and for actually giving the disease to me. WOW did she get mad.
What was I supposed to do? I don't feel I should let her blame me for this. I told her that I was willing to live with it, if she was honest.
She said this is proof that I just won't let it go. Maybe she is right, but this is a rather big deal. How should I have handled this?
Other than actually catching her in the act, I'd say being diagnosed with an STD is pretty "incriminating".
I love my wife, but this really does stink and it's very hard to accept.
