Is there a time limit as to filing a PFA order?
WH became physically abusive on April 4th - I did call the police - since we are in a small community they did not follow thru with the complete filing of the call.
Police did follow up and discussed either MC or IC - WH said this is what he wanted to do. Yet, he has done nothing..
Police also said they did see a mark on him so we both would be in jail. He had 1 small mark where I was pushing him off me - I though had many marks on my neck and in the subsequent days black and blue marks on my chest and upper arms - stupid me I didnt get photo's but I did have my friend look at them for a witness.
Since he is taking no steps to leave our home or to seek IC/MC I feel I should file charges against him. I am concerned that once I file D papers (probably July/Aug) he can/will become even more enraged.
Thanks

IH,
What exactly is a PFA order?
The laws vary from state to state, but I know quite a bit about VPO's (Victim's Protective Order).
If you don't mind telling me what state you live in, I could research it and let you know.

I don't know about limitations but one needs to be filed late or not. You and your children (if there are any) need protection now not sometime in the future. H

ITHURTS,
You need to see a lawyer and physically separate yourself from WH ASAP!! THis is only the beginning...he has shown a propensity and you need to PROTECT yourself!!!
Is there any way you could get the PFA AND remove yourself to a safe place? WH has now SHOWN there is NO hope for reconciliation!
For those that think WH is such a great guy, give them the name(s) of his OW's...no need for you to be emabrassed...he's the one who has repeatedly broken his vows, not you.
NO ONE deserves to be abused!
Let us know how things are progressing...

ih, Hopefully, this can answer your questions. information on protection from abuse in paI don't think there is a time limit after an incident of abuse. I think the necessary requirement is that danger to you or your children still exists. If that is the case, PLEASE get a protective order in place as soon as possible.

Thanks for the replies and the website.
I have an appt. w/attorney in June
I am concerned that once I file for a D (which may be July/Aug) and we start talking about splitting our business/household he will become more aggitated. His drinking will increase and he could become abusive again.
I'd like to think that he learnt his lesson by having the police at our home - but, some men never learn..He still can't see that he brought all this termoil on himself..I AM NOT THE PROBLEM...I realize he has alot of anger directed at me - noone likes to be "discovered" - their "secrets" put on display to family/friends - but it's too late to take it back. But, dont' take out on me either....
THanks again
