Ever read the book "Back from Betrayal" from Suzy Farbman? Her husband had affairs throughout their marriage until she finally figured it out. They had a rocky road to recovery, but now claim to have better, deeper (faithful) marriage.

Check out 2long. It's been 14 years, though that is not exactly a happy story right now.
PD, before divorce was so readily available, there were many, many marriages that survived. Try reading about Edward VII -- an immediate example. And Queen Alexandra remained an adoring wife despite Mrs. Keppel.
I'm not saying it's desirable, but it can and has been done. Often.
