I am pleased to report...... This is an infidelity-free story!

Yippee!

The story is very compelling. The film-making is top-notch. There is boxing violence, realistic and hard-to-watch. I was exhausted after the movie because with every fight scene, I was throwing punches and dipping and weaving right along with the actors.

Russel Crowe's acting prowess was really amazing in this film ... his best so far I think. (and he did not throw any phones in the movie, only punches ~LOL)

Renee Zellweger also gave a very believable and watchable performance.

The supporting role of the boxing trainer played by Paul Giamatti (star of the wine-trip movie Sideways -- a movie about infidelity, so be careful) will probably bring him another Oscar nomination ... in my opinion.

So, if you aren't seeing movies for fear of infidelity being tucked into the story line, this one is not only safe from that topic, it's also very worth the price of admission.

How come is it that so many of these great movies are about boxing? Raging Bull, Million Dollar Baby... ... I was going 2 say Rocky, but maybe I won't...

I'm not a fan of boxing at all, but I do like good movies.

I wanted 2 see Sideways, even knowing the trailers hinted that infidelity might be involved, but my W said she heard it wasn't even funny. I'll probably see it someday, though. Infidelity movies don't hurt anymore like they used 2. They either are realistic (Unfaitful, up until Geere kills the OM), or they're unrealistic (in any number of manners) and piss me off.

Million Dollar Baby

I'm not a fan of boxing at all, but I do like good movies.

This one (Million $ Baby) is less about boxing than you might think ... the actual story of the movie is about surviving and living and family and duty .... it's an exceptionally difficult movie to watch if you've recently dealt with a dying loved one... beware.... but it is an otherwise emotionally fulfilling experience ... our daughter watched this one in her ethics class, and they discussed after....

Know what 2 Long, you would probably be just fine with this one. It's funny in a wry sort-of-way. Mostly like a Cosby-Hope 'road picture' ... but with lots of booze and sex ! ~LOL~

I don't know if I want to see this movie, maybe I'll rent it on DVD when it comes out.I did see Birth, with Nicole Kidman last weekend.Very odd movie and it had Infidelity in it but the ending was sad because of it(well I won't spoil it for other's).

I also saw Sideways and I came away feeling strange about it.Not hopeful or happy,just....sad and sick maybe? Well, don't want to spoil that one either by talking about it here.

Well,Nicole Kidman is my favorite actress so I will see her in anything.

But the movie itself was strange, which I don't mind,I prefer odd films that make you think and aren't cookie cutter types but the ending...you'll have to see it for yourself and then we can talk. The word, senseless comes to mind.

It wasn't great by any means but the premise was intriguing to me.

Yeah,it was scary! I love scary movies.

I became a big fan when I saw her in Dead Calm with Sam Neil and started following her moviecareer.I can't think of any movie that she has been in that I didn't like or love(well maybe Eyes Wide Shut, don't like that movie).I just think she is a great actress.

Me too. I just love The Others and have watched it over and over again! I also liked her in that one where she is having an affair with the doctor, Alec Baldwin.
