Well, there has been a 7.5 earthquake off the coast of San Diego. A big wave has been generated. They advise folks in low lying areas to leave. That's us. It is supposed to hit at 10:14, so as soon as I finish the dinner dishes, I'm leaving.

Wow! I'd say this is the greatest reason ever not to do the dinner dishes. Get out of there! Stay safe, believer!

We just got a news bulletin that the warning was cancelled. Was it cancelled for you, too? I hope so.

Well, it WAS cancelled. It seems the earthquake hit off of northern California.

I feel kind of stupid, cause I warned all the neighbors, and we were ready to head for the hills like AD said. But it came over the TV like a Megan Alert, and sounded very serious. Plus I live in a canyon which is below sea level, and the ocean is just a couple blocks away. I even gathered up all of the animals to take them too. Oh well.

Better to feel stupid and careful and caring, than for you and your neighbors be lost at sea!

Glad you are safe,

Ah I got scared... was going to tell my brother to climb a tree or something.
Now I guess I'll have to make him build an ark of sorts, he needs a good hobby anyway.

Believer, don't feel stupid! Our bulletin said the original warning was for the entire coast of California, down to the Mexican border.

Besides, at least now you know you are prepared to evacuate, if you ever need to.

Indeed, let this be a sort of drill, now you know you can actually round up the animals on time and get your stuff together, also you can see what was difficult to do and next time you'll have it all ready and ironed out.

Uh oh...

My sister (bigsis on MB) lives in Crescent City.

They got hit pretty hard during the Alaska quake in 1964 (she wasn't there then)!

Thanks all. I still have the visions in my mind of the Tsunami in Indonesia. I watched that over and over. Unfortunately they didn't have an early warning system.

Well if anything that big hit CA, you can bet we'd all be paddling out here. LOL!!!

I remember when we moved to CA back in '62, my grandmother kept telling my mom that she would hear about some earthquake 'expert' named Jim Berkland who said CA was gonna fall in the Pacific (my grandmother's version). She was worried because we had just moved to CA from HI. My mom (her daughter) reassured my grandmother with the option of moving 'inland' to Nevada. LOL!!! My grandmother said that w/b better, then my mom asked how would the earthquake now where the state boundary lines were? LOL!!! My grandmother laughed. Then my mom dropped the bomb and said if CA ever fell in the ocean, you can bet HI w/b covered over completely by the biggest tsunami. LOL!!!

So much for being safe in paradise. So I keep plan B in my back pocket and I sit on a inflated donut LOL!!! Oops that's for my hemorroid. Just kidding about the donut.

Wow, Believer. That's too scary. I'm glad it was cancelled. Next time, though, let the dinner dishes go, and you all get to safety. Dishes are replaceable - YOU are not. :-)

I contacted my brother shortly after reading believer's post to make sure he was just fine.
He hadn't even heard about the tsunami alert, and while we were talking my dad's newspaper called him to make a quick note about it.
He tried to ask me where I had gotten my info through my brother, I just answered "My incredibly reliable, fast and complicated intelligence network in California gave me the heads up... also they know what you had for lunch and have an army of ninja killer squirrels at their command".

MWAHAHAHAHA!

Alostwife - That is a good one. It is very surprising the instant resources we have here, and all over the world.
