Its easier when I'm angry. I feel so vulnerable right now. I have had a horrible headache all day. I've taken meds, with no relief. Its probably from not sleeping well or hormonal (sorry guys). Working in the hospital all day, there's no time for rest and I have to be nice to everybody. I want to be nice. It just takes more out of me when I'm not up to par.
In the past on days like this, I'd get an unsolicited hug from my H followed by a back rub or foot rub, a little TLC goes a long way. I could curl up with my daughter but I am sure I'd just start crying.
WH is home and if I asked him he would probably give me a hug...or he could turn me down. I don't want a hug from WH I want it from my H. This just sux!
What do you guys to comfort yourselves?...no small appliances please.

((((((((confused))))))))))))) I am sending you a huge hug right now. I know how you feel. When I am very down I normally sit down with a nice cup of tea, or a smoothie if it is hot, I play some music, and deppending on the weather I go outside and sit under some trees and just soak the nice green light, and if it is night, I just read a book, or watch a silly movie, if it isn't too hot I enjoy looking at fireflies. Chocolate in moderation can make me feel better, like a small slice of chocolate cake, or a double chocolate cookie. A cup of TCBY strawberry cheesecake always makes me happy. Other things that are good are playing with my cats, taking a long bath, going to the gym to boost up my energy and get some happy hormones going, or looking at this: http://kittenwar.com/ or this: http://puppywar.com/ or this: http://albinoblacksheep.com/flash/pingpong.php
Someone throw me a map already!

I miss my H's hugs too. When he would hug me it just made everything better. We didn't need to talk about our bad days...it just told me that I'm not alone.
Now that I am alone I miss the hugs probably more than anything else. Comforting myself is such a challenge for me. For awhile I'd rent and watch a movie. That worked but I grew bored with watching movies. Regular pedicures makes me feel a little pampered...but it doesn't take away that lonely feeling late at night.
I don't have any children but I have a five year old nephew that lives nearby. He gives me the best hugs. The excitement on his face when I go to visit or in his voice when I call him makes me feel so special.
I also miss the two dogs my H and I have. They're with him. They use to be such great comfort for me. They'd sit and watch TV with me or cuddle with me at night. <sigh> Now I'm considering getting a dog of my own.
I don't know if I've been much help but lately I've found comfort by spending a couple hours here reading posts before I go to sleep each night. I don't feel so alone when I'm here.

I think you deserve your own dog check out the link alostwife sent me. too cute.
I don't think WH misses comfort from me, I wonder if he remembers it.

All I know is that kittens like this: http://kittenwar.com/kittens/9908/ should be illegal, the cuteness hurts my eyes.

Confused42, I know how you feel, except my WH moved out. I miss the hugs, especially the unsolicited ones.
When I'm depressed, I usually work out - hard. I always like to work out, but lately I've been doing it even more, and more intensely. It takes my mind off my problems, I get my heart rate up, I work up a good sweat, and I feel stronger (at least physically).
I hug my kids a lot, too, but not when I'm too depressed, then I might cry.
My doggies are a great comfort. Weenster has been sleeping with me. I gave her WH's pillow to curl up on. My beagle snores a lot, but it makes me feel not so alone. Besides, WH snored sometimes, too. I always liked hearing him snore. I always felt so safe and protected.
Okay, now I'm getting sad again.

(((((((((Pebbles)))))))) Thanks. I feel much better today. I brushed my dog (boarder collie/lab mix). She is such a sweetie her name is Sugar. Talk about loyalty and unconditional love!! <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> She's almost 10yrs old. Over the last 6 months she and I have gotten even closer. I got her and a litter mate sister at 8 weeks. Sugar & Spice. The have alway been great dogs, but my H thinks of dogs as animals...I think of them as members of the family. 3yrs ago Spice got very sick and we found out she was diabetic. My H was angry I didn't have her put down immediately. It didn't occur to me, I just took care of her. I drew her blood to keep an eye on her sugars, tested her urine for ketones (she would pee on demand into a container....good dog)and give her insulin shots 2x a day, also made special food (REALLY made him angry!) She did very well and had a very good quality of life until last fall when there was no controlling the sugars. At that time I had her put down, my Dad went with me. So Sugar has been lonely too.
Now that WH is sleeping in the RV she comes and sleeps next to my bed. She is a comfort to me. Thank God she is healthy.
Alostwife, Newlywedd and Pebbles Thanks for your help last night. I do pretty well most of the time. Yesterday that headache just wore me down. No headache today!! <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> I think I even fell asleep before 2 AM.

I'm on my 3rd day of a bad sinus headache so I can completely relate. I thought it would go away when I woke up this morning but no such luck.
I really love my poochies. I wasn't much of a dog person before we got them. They seem to sense when I need a little attention. Such a comfort. If only they could purr.
For the past 3 months, the dogs have been sleeping with me most of the time. There came a day when I decided not to put them in their kennels at night. WH would never approve. They are very hairy and like to sleep in the basement during the hot weather. Actually, I feel safer knowing that they are wandering around the house at night.
Hope today is a better day.

Our pets really are members of the family. I've always heard if you can't care for and be responsible for a dog then you're not ready for children. Well, two weekends ago my WH went out of town for the weekend to see OW. He left our two dogs home alone with nobody checking in on them. I received a random text message from him after he had been gone for a day and a half asking me to take them out. Although I'm trying to do plan B I didn't respond but went over to check on them. They had gone all over the carpet, the food/water was empty and they were desperate to go outside. This made me so angry!
Interestingly enough I received a text from him this morning asking if I could watch them this weekend. Yeah, right. They are now his responsibility. He can't just up and take off every weekend without figuring out (in advance) what he will do with them. Anyway, fortunately I'm super busy this weekend and I sent him a simple reply, "No, i can't. I'm super busy." I'm proud of myself because he knows I have a weakness for those dogs.

That was a hard one. It's not easy to ignore your dogs. Why does he have the dogs if he can't take care of them? Does he think they're cats? Cats you can leave alone for a couple days maybe but not dogs. Maybe you need a visitation schedule for them or get custody.

I actually thought about telling him that if he can't take care of them I'm taking them. He had the one when I met him. She was 6 months old. He considers her 'his' dog. The second one we adopted 2.5 years ago when she was 11. They interact well and need to stay togehter. I can't believe how irresponsible he's becoming. But this is another dose of reality for him.

I feel bad for the dogs but....REALITY is a good thing. Gosh I hope they didn't destroy anything too valuable. Chewed on OW shoe or pee'd on WH bed or relived themselves on that new expensive gift left on the chair. tee, hee.
Sorry, dogs are such good judges of character, that why they don't let them on the mothership.
