And Miker,
I have been out of the "game" for a very long time too!
But, maybe this time around, we get to make some of our own rules! And make them count. (now, I have no idea as to specifics)
Cheers back to you! Karona

Hey Everyone,
I hear you all about the flirting and fear of dating and doing the right thing.
I have to say I understand but I am glad that isn't one of my problems (although many others I do have) I am very outgoing and just "out there" all the time.
I have had zero problems getting dates, as many as I can stand, it is the telling them "thanks but no thanks" that is hard for me.
I've only dated 2 "clunkers" so far so it is hard for me to let the others down, all good women just not for me...heck I think I could be good friends with most of them.
I get misread because I like to have fun, I can have fun picking up trash and some women read things into my demeanor.
I guess it could be worse, I could have the personality of a toad and be shunned by the population...lol
So some of us are having a hard time re-learning flirting skills and getting dates....I have a terrible time with saying "not again thank you though".....they both suck to be honest.
I wish there were a way of saying it that didn't make ME feel bad, even though I have no reason to be....strange huh?
RM
"Who are you" said the Caterpillar This was not an encouraging opening for a conversation.
Alice replied, rather shyly, "I--I hardly know, sir, just at present...At least I know who I WAS when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then."

Geez Reborn, I'd like to tell you how sorry I am for you, but, hmmmm.......
In all seriousness, I see your point. You must be one fun kind of guy! (you do have a great personality we can tell)
I'm sure in your "out there" nature, you do have a serious side that doesn't want to hurt anyone. That is respectful!
Two clunkers though eh? I guess that's not too bad.
Let em down easy RM!

Cheers back to you! Karona Making up our own rules? I like the sounds of that. Count me in! I too have no idea. (But I like the sound of it...we are such rebels...) And since your thread is talking about being pathetic... What would you advise when a really good looking young lady makes a point in telling you she's just broken up with her boyfriend and when picking partners for pool comes over points at you and says "You're my partner"? Gosh...even I think I can decipher that message but instead of delivering an elated "Absolutely!" or a great one-liner all that came out of my mouth was a shocked and meek "uh ok?" At least I didn't say "uhhh, sorry, but I have to go to the bathroom..." instead but I do know what wit and charm I do have was severely handicapped by my extreme fear! Hopefully I kind find a woman that appreciates that! Hey can I make that one of my rules? Cheers, Miker

OUCH! Some women never cease to amaze me. I think it lacked some tact on her end, and it left with not much else to say but, UH, Okay! Hey, but I'm glad you didn't run off to the bathroom!
Try to let your wit and charm out. Don't hide it. At this point in life, for me, I would enjoy a guy who can make me laugh and have good comebacks for me!
I think there are women who would appreciate that, and will make it easy for you to let those qualities come out, easily. I don't think you want someone so full of themself, that assumes you would think you were so lucky to have her pick you....... Maybe I'm wrong. And I shouldn't judge, but I have seen some in action, and I feel they think other's are lucky to be in their presence.
Start making "your" rules!!!

I don't want to hide it, but I am just really guarded around strangers. And strange women are just that... Strangers! I am an entirely different person once I get to actually know the person. I dunno, I'm sure I'll be fine once I feel more comfortable with the whole thing. Right now I'm sort of at the "I do but I don't" stage. If the right person fell out of the sky tomorrow I think I would jump but I'm not ready to torture myself yet by going on a conquest. There are going to have to be some pretty low risk ventures to start with. How's things going for you? You smiling at strange men in parking lots yet? There is nothing wrong with smiling. It looks good on everyone! Cheers, Miker

You know Miker, this is me too, (except men).

I would say I come off pretty quiet, until I get to know people. So, I do relate and I understand what your saying.
Ha! No, I have had no other incidents. But, thanks for asking! Maybe I need to go back to K-Mart! (just kidding).

I heard that all K-Marts in WV have "date-nights" in the parking lot.

You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you stop to look fear in the face. Challenges can be stepping stones or stumbling blocks. It’s just a matter of how you look at them. The purpose of life is to live it, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience

Is that because everyone parks their RV in the parking lot and lives there for the summer???
