I posted this on the EN forum but I know this forum sees a lot of action so I thought I'd post here too. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

WH and I went to our first MC session last week and I found out that a major EN for him is the feeling of being "needed". This is a tough one for me. I am a self-reliant woman and have been for a long long time. I have been able to achieve most of my lifetime goals that I've set for myself and I'm working on new ones.

When we met I had a good job, good salary, a house, car and all that goes with it. I got tired of waiting for the right guy to come along, I just went and did it on my own. I was at a point in my life where I just wanted someone to share it all with. He came into my life with very little, 2 years after a divorce where he walked away from everything.

Of course right now, I don't have that good job or that good salary and I'm working hard at finding a new one. The savings is dwindling fast and we depend on WH's salary to get by.

But my problem is, I do need him. I need him in ways I guess he can't understand. How can I show him this? He says he's always felt wanted, but not so much needed. How can I do this without coming across as the helpless woman? Or is that what he needs?
