NOW WHAT?????/

Well, let me just tell you what life has been like for me since I became a Sweet Potato Queen. Some days I do not do jacksh1t.

Now, before you scoff, let me tell you that not doing jacksh1t is not the simple act of sloth that it may appear to the uninitiated.

Here's what a typical day of not doing jacksh1t at home looks like:

I rise early to greet the dawn, smell the honeysuckle as the sun first warms it, hear the mockingbird's earliest song, and begin not doing jacksh1t.

I cause massive breakfasts to be prepared & shared.

After breakfast, it's necessary to lounge for a bit, waiting for the sun to get hot enough to bask myself.
And I bask away - to Hell with the naysayers.

Then it's time for cool, refreshing - possibly rum - drinks.

Lying alternately in the sun and shade, I read novels that contain lots of description of clothing & food.

Sometime along in here a light lunch will appear.

The gentlest of breezes blows across my terrace, making a nap in the shade irresistible. Then I drift awake to watch the trained yellow butterflies flitting about the backyard.

Sometimes, late in the afternoon, there's music. Friends may come over to shoot dart guns at a beauty pageant on TV, & we'll eat Chocolate Stuff & fried chicken drummettes & drink margaritas.

Much later I take a big bath. Baths are real slo-o-o-ow around here.

Sooner or later I amble on off to bed, where I lie in the dark, listening to the sound of the breeze in the live oaks, high on the scent of the grdenias blooming outside my window, and wait for the moon to rise.

Now, if you got a better idea of how to spend your days, I'd sure like to hear about it.

Knowing that Jackson, Mississippi is truly the center of the SPQ's universe I dare not venture to say where I'm from for fear of expulsion.
