He has no intention of ever being more than a "wallet" and peripherial member of this family. He wants limited involvement on his terms. I think there is something missing in this man. He has never truly learned to be a husband or a parent. He is unable to connect. He is an emotional taker not a giver. He is an enigma. A shadow. He's the man who at 52 will still put his hands over his ears to not hear something I have to say.

The problem is that there no husband, no dad in this picture. Never, ever has been. We cut him a lot of slack in the 15 years of cranky, no mobility pain before he had his hip replacements. Somehow in the past 6 years, he never came out of cripple mode.

YOu know Grape, you came "clean" with all of this stuff above that we all knew. I could sense all of this. That is why I felt your situation was so different. I think it is great that Mimi is your support Goddess, I really do, but everything you just said above IS BEYOND typical marriage building after an infidelity. YOur Wayward hasn't been the man you romantasiced him in 15 years...IF EVER.

DO you really think Steve Harley, MS is going to "shake" him up after a one hour phone call? I know you don't, you can't possibly believe that.

I think you know all of this already, you are just dealing with accepting it. Your post above was once again real and I appreciate the candor in which you talk. At the risk of offending Mimi or others, I truly think you are in essence shuffling chairs on the titanic with your efforts now with your wayward.

I know this might not be helpful to you, but I see the pain you are in. I can feel it.

It is good to have a "cheering" section, but at some point, the "aliens" have to be put away, and the realities have to be faced.

You are far stroner than you really think or that you give yourslef credit for.

I only wish you prosperity and a thriving life in the future. That is all.

Some people just don't get it, they don't get it that they don't get it.

I had the right to remain silent.......but I didn't have the ability.

Okay, Dr. LemonSpock I will live long and prosper.

I've been thinking a lot about this. The moving on bit. I'm living with the feeling that I have been making do for a long time. I cannot say that I have made a mistake being with this man for so long. Good things have happened. We've had great children and a nice life. I regret nothing.

Sour's callout coupled with WH's phone calls left me in a weird spot. WH still feels himself to be the wronged one. He wants to pick and chose his periods of contact with us. Since he doesn't deny NOT having contact with slimeball OW, I will assume he still is. He will not talk about anything. When I say I'm applying for jobs, he doesn't even comment. He doesn't ask about his kids. Tomorrow, DS and I are going to his college orientation. Since WH attended this university, you think he'd want to be there. Of course, not. It's a pattern that's never going to change.

On Tuesday, I will be going away with DD for 10 days. We're visiting old friends. Our daughters are like sisters. This folks are some of the few "couple" friends that WH and I have had. (WH just wasn't interested in the social thing.) They will have some thoughts about the situation. I hope to come back refreshed.

School starts in a month. Things will be a changing. At that point, it will be almost a year since WH left us. As my dad would have said "Sh*t or get off the pot"

Grapes are versatile. Grapes can be sour, sweet, sublime as wine and fabulous even when old and dried out.

Me: BS
XCH: Clueless
2-DS: Bigger than me
1-DD: Now also bigger than me!

5/6: Personally served CH with divorce papers
6/6: CH F? wants to time to see if M can be saved
7/6: FCH reenters our lives to work on marriage but secretly signs papers to start divorce...what's that about?
Mediation set for November
Final dissolution in January 2007.
2008 and beyond: Life goes on...
