I have found that my MOW's parents may be more influenced by exposure in Japanese (their native language). I am not sure how much English they speak. I don't know anyone who speaks Japanese.

I'd appreciate any advice on how to go about this. Thanks!

Edited to add: MOW's parents and all those involved live in the U.S. (California).

I was going to send a letter, but in my past experience teaching English as a second language to kids, if the parents do not understand the letter they will have their daughter read it to them. Not good in this situation.

Sorry there. I have some people that can help with Chinese, but no Japanese. I take that back, my friend Steve is Japanese American and was studying Japanese for awhile. His dad was interned during WWII, but his mom was back in Chicago, and was not. I assume they can write and read Japanese. Let me know how desperate you get.

Hi, Sleepless.

I need to delete this thread - I forgot. I found out (by calling them!) MOW's parents speak English quite well.

Thanks anyway! <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
