I need to buy and install a new low-profile toilet. Maximum height of tank - 24 inches.
Anyone know what companies make well-functioning products that might suit my needs. I am replacing a vintage Case 1100 toilet. Just to replace the broken seat on the one I now have would be $100 as the company is no longer in business.
I know Koehler and American Standard are the most common names. I have a neighbor who just put in a regular style Toto toilet.
But I need something that flushes well. I am not looking for the most beautiful one - just the most effective. And reasonably priced.
Yes, I intend to do this job by myself. I may need help moving the thing but I WANT TO DO IT!

You know, if you do some looking at those building supply reclamation places, you can get some of the older 3 gallon flushers still. Sometimes they tear down a hotel, and you can get some good ideas.
Ain't no replacement for displacement. (Normally used when talking about car engines, but applies to flush toilets as well).
There's nothing wrong with kohler or AS, my Dad and I installed hundreds of 'em over the years as I helped him...

I forever earned a place of respect in my uncles heart when he walked in my house one day and found that I had just ripped out wall-wall that was in bathroom when we bought, had replaced the carpet with linoleum and was in the process of resetting the tiolet when he walked in <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

A friend told me about a group of women who do home improvement projects for each other. They each get a shot at having something done at their house. They start by doing research on the tasks, then learn to do the work, and finally pull together and actually do the work.
BTW - if you're in the neighborhood, I have a toilet to replace too... <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />
