Thx HTW and SD. Current sitch feels like it has some promise, but I've learned this for us: hopeful pessimism is more realistic than guarded optimism.
I am still deeply attached to her. Probably still love her very much, but it's hard to tap into that feeling right now.
In order to set the stage for repairing our M, I feel like I need her to take ownership of what she did. And not just a quick blanket 'ok im sorry now can we get to the next topic'. More like an item by item explanation and apology for each of 100 + lies and betrayals. OK I know that won't work; maybe there's some middle ground that works for both of us. It will be tricky. One thought; she has some needs for apologies from me as well for (mostly) ancient sins; maybe we can do a tit-for-tat trading apologies or something like that?
SD: Ayup, I'm a native. Ancestors came from Sweden 1880s. I grew up in central & western (fam still lives there), then college at KU & worked in KC & Wichita. Left 20+ years ago for grad school; back once a year to visit fam. Dorothy had it right: "there's noplace like home".
me: BH 53 WW: 48 Md 16 yrs A#1 start May'05, WW told me June'05 but would not say OMs identity. Aug'05 found out OM ident. Sep'05 exposure & NC. In-house separation, D threats+attorney. Oct'05 one-night stand with OM2 Oct'05 WW started A with OM3. Dec'05 Dday and NC. Dec'05 I consulted D attorney. Late Dec'05 back in the masterBR. Recovering. Late'07 started seeing OM1 again. Says 'its just lunch'. Yeah right.

LOL... I married a full blooded, red-head Swede from up around Marysville/Seneca area. Most of the jokes about Swedes aren't true!

LOL fer sher. Lots of Swedes up there. Good farming stock in my fam. My granddad's cemetary is a slice of life. Literally every stone (say a couple hundred of them) says something-son or something-quist. My people are from greater metropolitan Brantford, about 45 mi from Marysville. My buddy's mom grew up around Marysville I think. Can't remember her maiden name.

Wow, what a small world. My family is from western Kansas[Liberal] but we come from Fankhaus, Switzerland [1700's]. They were also farmers. My sister and brother are KU grads and I am a Texas Tech grad. I was just in Hutchinson in Feb visiting my grandmother.

Hey I've seen the yellow brick road there! I went to high school in GC & know some people in Liberal and around there. My uncle/aunt/cousins live in Hutch. We may have common acquaintances. Small world indeed. But then there aren't that many people in that part of the world; so I guess everybody HAS to be connected to everyone else somehow.
Small world story: My brother in Seattle was at his wife's company Christmas party (in Seattle), and there met a person who had lived in the very same house we'd lived in - in our teeny tiny hometown not far from Marysville. How weird.
They ruined the Big 8 when they let those dadgum Texas schools in.

LOL... Melody Lane and WNH native Kansans... no wonder I "get" your posts. I was born in Stockton and moved to a little town south of Emporia in 1959... and have been in the capital city since 1979. I wonder how many other posters have Kansas roots. It sure explains the good in both of you!
Rock Chalk, Jayhawk, KU!! I attended games there and watched many of the greats before they went pro...the most impressive, Gale Sayers, followed closely by Danny Manning...I've also seen many of the latest alums play that are now in the NBA. I "luck" into tickets to a game or two every year, basketball and football. Looking forward to seeing the new renovations and hearing the new state of the art Public Address system in Allen Field House!

That's it Melody. Also the center of the buffalo slaughter industry a hundred+ years back. Best-known local historical figure was C.J. 'Buffalo' Jones. Not the best things to be known for unfortunately.
Melody, I thought you was a Texican. Glad to meet another Jhawk.
I was at KU during Nolan Cromwell era. Boy he was fun to watch!

wnh, that's interesting, I didn't know that about Garden City. I remember the zoo and every kid for a 100 miles grows up on the Clutter family story.
I escaped to Texas in 1964. But all my folks are [were] in Liberal, Hutchinson, and Hooker, Okla so I have spent lots of time there. I have scads of cousins in Hutch.

Yikes! That's poor judgement Melody. Do you expect to come to your senses soon and return to your one and only true home?
I get the zoo tour every time, and it gets better every year. Really a great thing about GC.
If I'm not mistaken Liberal has not only the Dorothy/Toto house, but also a really good airplane museum?
I suppose you knew the pool is the "worlds largest outdoor concrete municipal swimming pool"? Lots of qualifiers there..but anyway it's a record.
I'm curious what it is about the Western Kansas/Liberal/Hutch connection that breeds MB stock?

wnh, I just couldn't endure the tumbleweeds and the car sickness anymore! I had to get away to Texas where the buffalo roam and the folks are brash and crazy! And where I no longer have to take Dramamine for car trips.

In 1964 as you were heading to TX, I was in 2nd grade and madly deeply in love with a girl who had just moved from TX to my little town in KS. We spent our time together at the fish tank in the back of the classroom, and planned our elopement to Texas. However it wasn't to be, alas....

Mel is it Hooker, Okla that has the cow-chip throwing competition? Or maybe Beaver, Okla?

However it wasn't to be, alas...it's all been downhill since then. lol You Kansas boys are all alike! Silver tongued devils! I was in first grade that year and was the terror of all little boys on the playground. Must have been Beaver that had a cow chip throwing contest, that doesnt' ring a bell for Hooker. My little petite, ladylike Mother graduated from Hooker High and recieved a t-shirt at her reunion that says "Hooker Reunion." She LOVES wearing it in public to humiliate her scandalised children!

SD I did an internship there last year of undergrad. Great experience, learned a ton. I go through there en route to visit gramma with the boys. Also have an aunt&uncle there. A couple of years ago took the boys to see the dome & murals, way cool. KS is kind of like a small town in a way, everybody seems to know everybody.
Just heard a Bush joke: Somebody asked what he thought of Roe vs Wade. He answered 'I dont care how they get out of New Orleans'. That's the whole joke, you can laugh now.
