Look, I love New York. I have plenty of friends from New York. I enjoy the landmarks, the museums, the Broadway shows. The city has some of the finest restaurants in the world, no doubt about it. I’ve even eaten New York-style pizza, and agree that it can be quite tasty.

But give me a choice, and I’ll drop their thin-crusted ‘za in a New York minute for a Chicago deep-dish pizza. Give me buttery crust as fat as a Bears lineman and as tall as the Sears Tower, and I’ll let the five boroughs have their delicate little crusts.

TA

I work in the Sears Tower and I'll have to say that would be one big pizza. I agree with you completely. I have to have deep dish at least once a week or I start going through withdrawals. Thin crust is for when you're in a hurry and want to eat on the run.

Chicago, Schimago. Best pizza this side of the big ditch is at Northlake Tavern in Seattle - on the ship canal below the University of Washington.

A pizza worth having an affair with.....

Deep dish is not pizza. It's a baked pile of stuff. Just like hot dogs should not have salad thrown all over them. Chicago is a nice city but they have no idea how to make pizza or hot dogs. Give me a Gray's Papaya hot dog, mustard only or a slice of Lombardi's. Simple is best...no reason to hide under a pile of stuff.

Tho' never in Chicago I admit ! I ate a medium rare fillet steak when I was last in Chicago. Ate it with fried okra and saurkraut and a pitcher of cold brew. mmmm.

Best pizza I ever had was in Copenhagen. Hand thrown pizza joint off Strecker square. Wonderful.

I'm in the Chicago area! I just moved back in June. I was born and raised here.

Maybe I'm biased, but Chicago deep dish is the best!

Boy did I miss the pizza when I was away. I couldn't find anything that compared. (I've had NY pizza, too) It was the 1st thing I'd eat when I'd come home to visit.

I also missed Garrett's popcorn (caramel/cheese mix). ...mmmmmm...

Gino's East....better known as "da ansah" to Onu, Due, and Malnotti...the question?

Who makes better pizza than the big 3?

I liked the old location better but the pizza is still just as good...

I need a cheese-sausage pie right now!

DS8 and I watched the fireworks on 7/3 at Millenium Park!

You're close it's not a pile, it's a pie. Your finger must have hit the 'l' by accident. When I moved to Orange Co. California after college, my two roommates and I had a "Chicago party" in our backyard. We had Chicago Dogs (Vienna Beef and 'salad') and we flew in 5 Gino's East counter to counter in the belly of an airplane. We even managed to find a 12 pack of Old Style.... but we didn't share that. <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

What do you expect from a bunch of Wolverines! If you think it sucks there, stay OUT of California. The only saving grace there is the California Pizza Kitchens. At least they're trying to have their own pretentious style.

Sorry to see you had such a bad Christmas. My coworker found out the day before you did. The good news is he's happily recovering. They had a real breakthrough last month.

Bob get's bonus points for struggling through more bad pizza than the rest of us. Bob, if you want a taste of Chicago, you can order pretty good pizza from

Lou Malnatti's

It's also really good. You'll find the Chicago Style is simply unique. The crust is either deep dish (pie) or thin crust. The deep dish sausage doesn't have pieces of sausage, the entire bottom of the pie is a sausage patty, then a layer of sauce and more cheese. You get the idea.

OOOOOHHHHH YUM!

There is good pizza in California...you just have to look real hard..
Mama Mia's in Fremont..good thick crust Sicilian or paper thin if you like, almost a cracker...just plain great pizza

Georgia has 2 count 'em 2 good pizza joints

The Original Mellow Mushroom in midtown Atlanta...
And
OZ Pizza in Decatur

Nancy's is OK too but if you are into Original Chicago style you will be disappointed but for those that wouldn't know a Chicago Pie from anything else it is good. A little pricey as well.

If you visit Ga. though you gotta stop at one or both of these places...THe MM or OZ
