God doesn’t give you what you want, he provides what you need. (Steps one, two and three – in order.)

I was listening to today's broadcast of Focus on the Family.

The guest had been angry at God because "God knit her in her mother's womb. He formed her inmost being" but she said "why, GOD, THIS WOMB? Why this mother?"

God formed her and gave her what she needed so that she would be able to withstand her circumstances.

This applies also to "God may not give you the kind of sponsor you want, but he will give you what you need."

A quiet soft-spoken sponsor is NOT necessarily sneaky. It could be just the perfect *balance*. <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Mr. Pep just said to me:

"If you had everything you ever wanted. Money, perfect family, good looks, good health ... then you wouldn't need God in your life."

I have heard it said:

Satan gives you what you want.

My whole life, I have had no problem making friends, keeping friends, attracting people to me.

And there have been times when I felt weighed down by some people who wanted to be a part of my space.

I desire a strong person/sponsor who does not need me to be strong.

Sometimes, you feel honored, needed, useful, strong, and powerful when you attract people, help them, and yes.... are strong for them. At some point, your space feels intruded upon (your sponge sucked dry). So, some of this stuff that I quoted from you is not about choosing a sponsor (which has already been covered very well).... a sponsor that is strong or weak (by who's definition anyway?), but about finding your appropriate boundaries for helping people and being "strong" for them... and will come with examining your motives for doing these things.
