Hi everyone, I am new here but I have read several posts and need some advice. My wife of 4 months recently went out on the town while I was on travel. She got really intoxicated and did some things with a complete stranger that was totally out of charachter. They didn't have intercourse (I believe her) but got pretty far along (oral perhaps). She called me the next morning and told me immediatly, because she felt horrible. I know she loves me very much. I don't doubt that but I am so hurt I just feel sick. She has told me everything and the honesty helps but it's still in my mind. I don't know what to feel. I would never have guessed in a million years she would do this. How can I get past this? I totally don't think this would ever happen again but I didn't think it would the first time. I feel so let down.

Welcome to marriagebuilders. There are lots of us who thought this kind of thing would never happen, but it did.

She told you the truth right away, and that is very, very encouraging. That almost never happens.

Now you need to work through all of this, and sit down with your wife to put some protection in place so this will never happen again. I would suggest that she not go out when you are traveling.

You might want to post on general questions, as there is more traffic there.

Thanks Believer, I suspect the worst part is the mental replays. It is just on my mind so much, I've never had so much trust in someone. I didn't think she could be that weak no matter how intoxicated she may have been. I'll try the general questions. We're going to work past this I know, I just don't know who has more healing to do.

I feel very sad for you. She needs individual therapy. The fact that she would engage in this type of behavior with a complete stranger and put herself at such risk for STD's (I know a woman who did the same thing and got herpes in the mouth from this) is extremely disturbing. I think there is something more going on her with her and that is why therapy is critical. I wish you luck.
