hi! my name is emily & i am a 30 yr old woman with 2 kids. I have been married for 3 1/2 yrs & my H just filed for divorce 1 wk ago because we fight a lot.(it has never been physical until last week when he said some really nasty stuff to me & i threw a pencil box at him.) I have an appt. to see a lawyer in the morning. i have been a wreck the past wk. no eating, no sleeping. there were problems with drugs & alcohol that r gone now but we just disagree on everything. we are bitter. i know we love each other. we just need help in finding what made us fall in love in the beginning. he has been sleeping in the guest bedroom. i woke up last night at 3 am & cried until 545 am until i finally went into his room & cried in his arms. we made love for the first time since he filed. he snuggled w/ me after his shower & b4 he left 4 work. we kissed & said i love u. his face "lit up" when he told me goodbye. i asked if he would sleep in the master BR w/ me tonight & he said he will see how today goes. I have asked him several times to go to counseling & church & he kept saying NO. i know he wants our family to stay together but he has a very nosey, domineering & gossipy mother (who he still thinks is perfect even after she threw a bday party for r son & didnt invite myself or my daughter BC we got into a fight earlier that morning - i found out from the pics she emailed to me...what a slap in the face!). i want my marriage to work but i cannot stand his family of back stabbers. they live about 10 min. away, unfortunately. PLEASE help me someone...i dont want to go to the lawyer tomorrow. i dont want to answer the door when they come to serve me divorce papers. i think both of our parents are OK w/ us splitting BC they hate each other but our kids would be devestated. (7 1/2 YO daughter, 2 YO son) daughter has asked if we will divorce. i keep saying i dont know. she has told us she doesnt want us to. HELP! i am sick depressed. thank u in advance! Em

Hi Emily I hate to say this, but there is not "definitive" answer to your poll. With the facts you have given (and we all understand that these represent only a fraction of things about your relationship) one cannot decided if staying or going is the right thing to do. I suggest that you read the information available on this site (not these discussion forums) FIRST. Here is a link : Marriage Builders Basic Concepts Have you considered seeing a counselor yourself, even if your husband won't go?
