I have had about 4 Dell's now, and I have had no complaints. I had one that caused a problem after 2 years, and got a new top-of-the-line one at no cost. I thought they would probably send me a refurbished one just like I had, but they didn't.

I have always bought Dell's very top-of-the-line (we do wedding videos). However, I don't know that I will go that high on my next one because they are all out-of-date by the time you get them.

We bought my mother the Dell for around $500.00 for Christmas, and I have no complaints with that.

Through my company, we can get "employee" prices which are supposed to be real good. I will check tomorrow and see what they have there. (I have the link at work).

Bumping for TA

I'm doing research as we speak.

BTW, I've had about 5 Dells with very few problems and the few I had were covered by the In home warranty.

There Customer service though has gone to He** (India).

Can I post after 10pm EST?

Posting after 10pm EST is fine. I stay up til about 10:30 to watch the news. I am in North Carolina. Where are you?

I have been looking at Dell since I got home from work. I checked the mail and there catalog was in the box. What about that $299 or $399 deal?

Thanks TA

Lifted,

I too have wondered about the $299 computer Dell has been advertising. Do you know if it comes with monitor?

From what I can tell it comes with everything plus a free printer. I just wonder if it is worth it. If you spent a little more what could you get?

Sorry for the late post. I was at the Tanning Spa. <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

I think this offer ends Tuesday. <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />

I just called Dell and got the specs on these machines.

You should get the one for $549, upgrade the Free printer for $30 and get one that multi-tasks and is a better printer.

If you click on the computer pic it will list the details and the Optional upgrades that I spoke of.

I personally would spend an additional $80 and get a 17" Monitor vs the 15" monitor that comes with this system.

A larger monitor is worth every penny. I use 19" and 21".

Any order thru Dell that is less than $549 is charged $99 for shipping.

You would have to be out of your Mind to consider the less expensive computers.

So $549+ tax is the Minimum (FREE Shipping)

$30 to upgrade Printer

$80 to upgrade to larger 17" Monitor

The $549 computer has everything your son could want.

Windows XP

USB ports

Decent speed

512MB Ram

80GB hardrive

CD and DVD (burner) He'll really like this.

15" Flat panel monitor

Good Luck
