I first filed for divorce...yea, it was during the time when the planes were crashing...

So every year at this time my heart mourns a little.

Because I know that because of the significance of this day in our country's history, I will always remember what happened to my little family that day. It was the day I first filed. Two more followed...filings that is until it was irrevocable and I continued ahead.

Alot has happened in these four years.

I am blessed to have lived and grown stronger. I have a different life now. so very different it is amazing to me.

It's been the hardest 4 years of my life...since d day and reality he's the way he is now.

But I have grown as a mother...I love my son with all my heart. He has become an amazing little man now.

I am so much stronger and love so much harder.

And when it's time to stand up for my beliefs or my son, I do so without any flinching...just stand up, get tough...and do what I have to do.

And I speak my mind...it's a longshot from having my now xh, when he used to (when married) grab my knee tightly as a signal to "shut up" if he thought I was talking too much to anybody (if we were having company or at dinner with others) during dinner...yea, he used to do that...

And I bring home the bacon...longshot too from 4 years ago.

And I learned of the kindness of strangers here at MB. Learned how people I didn't know back then could literally help me turn my life around and reclaim it. I thank you with all my heart. May God bless all my friends here.

It's a trigger for me too.
It was the third event in a 3 week period after which X mentally checked out of the M and never checked back in (as he'd done before).
And we went out for our fifth anniversary dinner (late) shortly after and it was the worst dinner out ever. The kind where you know others are watching and saying "that's so sad".

Now the good part, it's been four years (although he didn't leave til new years), that I haven't had to live with the daily emotional abuse.

It was a marriage that never really started.

4 years ago today...

my divorce became final. I was actually in my divorce attorney's office when the attacks on the twin towers were announced. Nope, I won't forget where I was. My ex and the judge signed the next day and it was official.

Life began again. Like the people standing in the streets of New York looking at the smoke rising, I was hurt, but alive, and darn thankful to be standing on my own two feet and FREE.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I hope in four years I can look back on this experience and be proud of what I have learned about myself.
