I was amazed 15 years ago when driving down Hwy #75 in Dallas, that the shoulder of the road was used as an extra lane to pass slower cars! And.........I do believe it was always a bada$$ truck doing the passing! Mel what's up with that??????

good grief, don't you silly Okies know anything? Of course, that is the extra passin' lane!

Oh Mel, you'll really like this...

Wish I could remember the name of the street in downtown Dallas, I can see it in my mind....anyway I got turned around there, and ended up going the WRONG way down a one way street. Nothing like facing HEAD-ON a herd of angry TEXANS, many car lanes wide - while going the wrong way down this MAJOR one way street!!!

WhoooooooHooooooo! I made it out alive!

You want risky driving...try picking up my DD15 at high school in the afternoons. ARGH...teenage drivers on cell phones that have a death wish.

Sheesh I remember we used to race Mulholland Drive when I was a teenager in LA. Those were the days.

Speaking of Hooters...WS and I went in there one time so I could see what the big fuss was all about...LOL!! Waitress tried to pick me up!! We laughed about it the rest of the afternoon.

On Thursday, I was walking Downtown H-town on my way to lunch...There was a big *** car blocking the crosswalk. Since we are inundated with Louisianians right now, I thought to myself, "gotta be someone from Louisiana" because no good Texan would do that... When I looked at the plates, sure enuf, the car was from my homestate up north!!!!

No insurance, ATV's, playing in a "band", tattoos, Bud, working long overnight hours in a medical facility surrounded by adoring nurses w/little or no accountability for how one's time is spent.

Yea Lem....what about those adoring nurses???

Csue:

I will be honest, there are some adoring nurses (99% of the time are the young ones right out of school) who could be easy bait for anyone with an MD on their jacket, but it is not as commonplace as you think. There are far more affairs by doctors with other allied health personnel (i.e Tecnical partners, aides, Physical therapy, dietary, clerical, etc...) than with an RN. I think those in the nursing profession have been hardened by their training and have to much bad experience seeing first hand the dysfunctional nature of those of us in the profession of medicine. To do my job, someone just has to be wired a little different, a sensible nurses usually do NOT want to deal with that. A great majority of the nurses I know and work with in the hospital are married to blue collar/less formally educated men and the RN's are usually the bread winners in the family. Interersting. UNLESS they themselves are just personally hot for a certain doc (yes, this does happen), they are NOT likely to be wowed or be very impressed with someone just because they are an MD.

As for me, I have had daliances with other hospital personnel (as an Intern, and medical student), but never as an affair, and NEVER on the "sly". If you are single and a doctor, it is not very hard to get a date or meet people. However there is a double edged sword to that. Everyone knows who is banging who. I truly do NOT know how someone could pull off a hospital affair without word leaking somehow. Health care workers (especially hospital based) are the biggest gossips around. You would not belive some of the "dirt" that I hear them talking about, and then ofcourse I want to know (they do usually tell me ). hey I am entitiled, my story was hot news for a while, but thankfully it is all "old news" now. There is a certain contingent of nurses who are dying to crack the case of who I am seeing...........that case is uncrackable...becasue I am still willfully single.

Being a DOC and working alot in this type of enviroment is definetely a risk factor for an affair (just not so commonplace here on this board-although still prevalent).....but it all still boils down to personal choice and accountability. I could have had a hundred and one affairs ( ofcourse based largely on my great looks, charming wit, striking intelligence --joke ) on the basis of my status as a doc, but have never and will never do that. In the end, that shyyt is so cheesy anyway.

Lem...

P.S. This message board is definitely loosening up and is able to enjoy some more humor. I like it again.

Why do MD's get the babes, why not us Tax Attorney's?

I know why. I don't need any "babes" because I married my trophy wife the first time.

This is actually my dad's line. Down in Boca when he's confronted by every man that is on his 2nd, 3rd and 4th wife. They asked him what's wrong with him, jokingly of course. His patented reponse is above.

There are nurses who adore Lemonman ????

hmmmmm

You're correct of course, Lem, the hospital environment is a hot-bed of affair possibilities ....

A million years ago, I briefly dated a respiratory therapist. I stopped dating him after he tried to pull me into a closet at work for a little action .... he was dumped post haste .... I mean realllllly

No more work romances for me *yuk*

I married a man in a completely different business.... fantasy-based not reality based.

Yes, no dipping the pen in the company "ink"....I did train with some fellow residents who have had "call room sex" and everytime I laid down in a resident call room, I wondered who's dried bodily fluids was I potentially interacting with. Now, I share an attending call room, only used by 8 other MD's (6 of 8 all married, and all straight laced guys who I hope wouldn't use this room for that purpose....you do never know though). In my line of work, you meet some crazy and interesting people (and that is only the docs I am talking about).

how come whenever I go to the hospital I never see any studly docs? I feel like I've been jipped!
Heck, I was in auto accident and in the ER when they removed ALL of my clothing with the help of scissors and morphine, and I don't remember any cute docs.

Come to think of it, I don't remember much. Hmmm...

Now, when I was younger and lived on the Navy base...TONS of cute guys.

Lem,

You make very good points! My sister used to work in hospital administration in charge of risk managment. Yikes...the things that happened - and yes EVERYONE knew!

Hmmmmm...........must not have been to my hospital.......there was a big trend for a while with medical schools only accpeting the "nerds" with a 4.0 GPA, and perhaps you are still seeing the spillover from that. Thankfully the schools relaxed their admission standards and letr me get in on the delayed 6 year program.....

Ahhhhhhhhh, would that that be true about us lawyers!!! (I've been divorced 1.5 years now and been on 4 dates - 3 with the same guy who seemed to be a souped-up version of my XH - alcoholic, marriage ended bcs of an A - and the other was a lawyer, too....need I say more?)
