I was thinking that lawyers represented and defended the interests of clients and did not expect the same in return. I take the compliment then. I see what you mean it just struck me kinda funny. In fact, my old business cards (when I was a full time attorney) did say "Attorney and Counselor". The estate planning and probate work I did required a lot of hand holding and "counseling" regarding intimate family matters. Wouldn't call it a risk factor as I was under 30 at the time and nearly every single client was over 60. I think the partners just took the occasional young attractive ones. Partner in a law firm, now there's a risky occupation. Mr. Wondering

But I think having an accent is a risk factor - we seem to have lots of Brits, Aussies, and NZlanders here. Yes, I agree accents seem to be risk factors. Actually... Eureka DRUM ROLL... I have it! Speaking ENGLISH is a big risk factor. In fact its the only factor that I think EVERYONE on this site has!!

Risk factors, eh? How's this--H drives a *military* Humvee at work, loves NASCAR (we've even been camping for a whole weekend to attend a race w/FOW and FOWH), he loves to bowl (still don't get how that's a risk factor tho), and while he doesn't hunt, he is fully qualified to carry an M-16!?
Oh yeah....one good way to "heal" that NASCAR addiction and the all-American horsepower debate about the huge pickups is to be run practically off the road on the German Autobahn by a teeny little Saab while doing 120mph in your wife's Toyota minivan! LOL

People underestimate the Bowling phenemenon factor. There must be something about the whole bowling scene that is the lure.

It seems there are a lot of BS on board that are care takers or service providers. People that have jobs where they give to others and do not require reciprocation. ie. nurses, teachers, homemakers and even doctors and lawyers. Interesting point. You've mentioned people who are programmed to take a lot of crap from others without retaliating, especially the nurses and teachers, to a lesser extent physicians (sorry, Lemonman, but you KNOW you guys can get away with a LOT more snarky behavior than we nurses can--who have to be sneaky if we want any vengeance, all the while maintaining plausible deniability). I don't know about lawyers--they certainly don't have reputations for passive acceptance. And homemakers may choose not to retaliate or be assertive, but there are no professional or personal inihibitions built into the job requirements that keep them from speaking up. Yuck, I hate to hear the unreliability problem with an Audi...we test drove an A6 - it was so nice, only maybe a bit toooo much of a performance car for me - I'd need to take a different kind of drivers ed!!!
But then, maybe not....It's been over 15 years since I've had a speeding ticket!!! That would be bound to change in an Audi of any type!!

But then, maybe not....It's been over 15 years since I've had a speeding ticket!!! That would be bound to change in an Audi of any type!! SInce this thread came up I have been thinking about the A6. I have a 5 series and am getting the itch for a change. Decisions...Decisions........ Any 5 (new 2003 and newer) series owners have an opinion. Are you happy with it? I was in the OR this am doing a case and another fellow surgeon was bitching a storm up about his cases being bumped and he was screaming at a nurse nearby (who had nothing to do with this), and she just sat there and took it. It was no doubt humiliating for her (and totally uncalled for) but she is "old school" and took it. I went and got her a muffin and coffee to make her smile (scoring more points along the way).....she had that look like she wanted to cut the f-ing guys bal$$ off....LOL....I just have to say this.....he better watch his back......I won't be suprised if his cases start getting bumped if he is even one minute late to the OR.....LOL. While I agree that docs get away with alot of BS in the hospital, as a group we are weak, and are no match at all for the nurses in the long run. LOL LM...you have obviously learned alot about dealing with nurses. Too bad I can't say the same for all docs!
I once told a doc (who thought it was ok to scream at me and throw test results at me) that we could handle this situation in one of two ways. One, is the easy way, and I will win. Two, is the hard way, and I will still win. Then I told him I was no longer "feeling the love" at the nurses station and I walked away. The look on his face was priceless!! he was a miserable old f*rt, the younger docs are much more civilized!
As a result of that incident, many RN's go out of their way to make things difficult for him(without impacting pt. care). Yes, it's passive agressive, but it's the long haul that wins the war not the full frontal assault!

Back to dream cars....
The Audi TT is MY dream car! And it's still a dream.
My husband already has his dream car, to this new car isn't as big a deal to him as a result.
He ended up test driving Suburu WRX and STI. He really liked them - he thought they did everyting the Audi could do and the price was significantly better - and he LOVES the reliability of Suburu.
The STI and WRX are less family friendly - so he ended up getting the Legacy model....it has everything under the hood that the WRX has so he's very happy. It gets good gas mileage even though he has to buy premium gas...UGH!
He loves the manual transmition and drives it far better than I do. I can't get the shifting out of 1st to 2nd quite as effectively as he does....and it has more power than I need for sure. And I'm can't corner, or not willing to corner as fast as he does...
Personally, I like the looks of Audi's better....but it wasn't my car we were replacing this time!!!

I was raised in Texas, and on road trips we used to play Highway Bingo (I still play <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> ). You had to get 5 cars in a row with the same color or make to get a BINGO. We finally had to make a rule that 5 white F150's didnt count! Just too many to keep the game going! And yes, there are F250's, F350's, F450's, F550's and F650's. You learn your trucks in Texas! <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> Picture of F650Lemon, did you see the article in Car&Driver about the new Lexus IS? Ranked 2nd behind the bmw. Very sport, rwdrive, and better horsepower than the older models. I have almost 100k on my 2002, and it's holding up very well. It's lovely and zippy, I love my IS. We drove the A4, but my H was too tall and didnt quite fit, and the A6 was out of our $ range, at the time. I think the TT is lovely, too, but not enough HP for the $$.
