My brother et al arrived at 3:00. They spent the night in line at a gas station in Livingston, Texas. There were 5 or 6 stations there and none had any gas EXCEPT the one he was at! He filled up around 6:30am and it took him that long to get to Longview. He said it was slow traffic frm there to Nacogdoches.

Shephard is way inside the 610 loop, like 80 miles from Livingston. Not good. There is a city named Shepherd (sp) north on 59 between Houston and Nacodoches - that's where the tank trucks were (according to Channel 2). BB

Thanks carnation - geez the kid is exhausted. One year in Iraq - has so many medals he almost falls down wearing them. Once trip to N.O. - now says I'd like to see Texas. Love that kid. He made sargent in Bagdad. I am proud of him -so proud it brings tears to my eyes.

Just to let everyone know - I am hunkering down on the west side of town...we will be spared most of the fury of the storm.
I have put my motorcycle in a garage in the area, and have prepared with water and food...but I don't think it will be all that bad.
All my family and friends are in safe places, so I am happy about that at least.
Hopefully TxDot and DPS will get everyone off of the roads...I am glad I didn't leave for Austin like I originally had planned...

whew! It's over and not much damage at all. Only 28 reports of robberies in Houston. Of course, this is an aggressive police force and they don't tolerate crime there.

My brother had the funniest reaction when I told him Houston wasn't hit when he woke up this morning. A look of ANGER passed his face! lol He wanted his 30 hours of ****** to be worth something. lol

My sister got to Austin with her kids well in advance of the evacutation. She lives in Houston.
So glad to hear her house is likely still standing!
