Weaver ... I was thinking about this

and I think

"complicated chit" must be reduced to it's essesnce so it becomes a more workable dilemma

if a dilemma continually holds it's place in our heads as "complicated" the solutions are elusive

as in: "I can't solve this it's way too complicated"

break it down so it's not complicated

I really think we make many things complicated ourselves which are not naturally complicated

this is different than 'black or white' thinking

I believe in reducing a 'complicated' dilemma to a simpler term/form/shape/size/character and ~then~ applying principles

for me personally, the most tried and true way to do this is to examine myself first and attempt to unravel some of the knots I have tied myself which are making something appear to be 'complicated chit'

asking myself "Why does this look so hard to me?" ... or "What is stopping me from making a decision? Is it fear? Lack of knowledge? Is this my anxiety taking charge?

next I usually try to think of something similar that stumped me and recognize that I eventually unearthed a solution to something that appeared 'complicated'

some things ARE complicated, but usually the individual elements/parts/components are themselves NOT all that complicated

and we ourselves, our attitudes ARE a part of the complication

sometimes we think something is 'complicated' because our emotions tell us so ... and the 'thing it's self' is actually quite simple, but our feelings about it are what is complicated

reduce to the lowest common denominator the simplest part and apply known principles

that's the only way I know how to function effectively when feeling overwhelmed by complicated chit

How true that is!

So, how do you reduce a problem to less complicated terms when inaction to do so has actually piled so many problems onto one another? How do you begin to simply sort them out or separate them?

LOL! I detest math!!! No wonder it sounded so hard to me!

Also, what exactly is a "chit" and where is this thread about pinball or whatever? I have tried to find it and can't.

Thanks, FF. I looked everywhere but 2long's thread. It had 2 many numerical references, so I chose 2 avoid it.

Thanks Pep.

And in my own sitch that is what I am trying to do. That is why my head is all a jumble lately. Going back to the beginning (teen years) and trying to untie some knots.

Too bad it doesn't apply to learning how to stop loving someone.

No one has figured out how to do that. Because there is nothing logical about love. There I got to say it again. <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

And I don't mean the love as a choice thing which is very true, I mean the love as a feeling which is equally as true.

I don't think it is necessary to stop loving anyone ...

sometimes it is necessary to stop seeing someone you happen to love

but if we're trying to solve things

and our emotions are making us crazy

we need to take the emotion out of the equation (for math haters ... I decided to toss in more math terms just to be mean)

Oh good grief, what I was talking about when I said it is complicated.

And the person I was talking about is not running rampant.

I might be, but he is not. He knows what he is doing and why, and actually still has a little hope.

I on the other stand don't have a clue, but am going to get there BR.

Pep--
I was very impressed by your Math terms. In fact, almost all problems can be broken down into a sequence of binary algorithms: 1=yes, 0=no. Ask 10 questions, and the answer becomes 10001111010 (or whatever your ten answers are!) Ok, so I've lost a bunch of folks, but really think about it...if you could get an HONEST answer (no fog) to ten questions to your spouse, wouldn't that clear a lot up? We could use something like from Glamour Mag: "If you scored a 1-4, you have NO HOPE, If you scored a 4-8, Some Hope, and 8 and above, You better go for it!" Wouldn't it be nice if all the "complicated chit" could be broken down into a sequence of yes or no questions?

Weaver ~ 2long is a dear man, who I happen to think is one of the most precious posters on the board. His wife has no idea what a gem she is married to.

He is also stuck. He may have hope, but there isn't any hope if he can't get unstuck. We all, as human beings, make things complex when our own will is running the show.

uh... how do ten answers converted to a binary number equate to 11 digits?

by the way, your digits in hexadecimal are 47A

but your grade in this math quiz is 1111

HA!

ok, I have nothing constructive. Have a good night.
