I see other prople pull quotes out of posts from other MB posts. How do you do this? Also, when you quotet a song or something, how do you get that to cross over? I'm not very computer literate.
Two ways, but basically working off the same principles.
1.
If you want to easily grab and quote the whole message, you click on the box at the top right of a message you wish to respond to where it says
" Quote It's the middle box between
Reply and
Quick Reply See it?
Now once you've done that you will see the codes that make the Quote Box appearance around the message text.
It looks like the symbol on your keyboard [
and then the word "quote" (without the quotation marks"")
ending with a ] symbol
See it?
Now the easy way to remember this is to think of the symbols [ ] and [/ ] as tags that tell the computer to do something special when it displays this particular text.
the [ something special to do ] is the Open Tag
and it always goes at the beginning of -- in this case -- the text you are going to quote.
To stop the quoted text so that you can post your own Unquoted response, you direct the computer to stop at the end of the quoted text with the Close Tag
[ / finish something special to do ] --Note the Forward Slash in the Close Tag.
What you have at the end is something like this:
[ begin*quote ]
quoted somethin-somethin that someone said.
[/ end*quote ] ** If I put only the word "guote" here the computer would display this in the quote format. Get it?
Everything enclosed is handled in the special way. Remember When you type the word "quote" between the two [ ] symbols, that is the Open Tag, the
direction to begin the quote, and when you want to finish quoting, you type the word "quote" between the two symbols with the forward slash [/ ]

Ok, the other way is to not use the button on the top right of the message. Instead reply as you would normally but just type in the tags and word quote yourself, and copy and paste selections you'd like to put into the quotes from the messages.

It sounds like you're unsure about the copy and paste function in your computer also.
I find the easiest way to do it in the forums is to use the CONTROL Functions.
Highlight some text you want to copy, by using your mouse to click and drag to select the text you want.
Look on your keyboard on the lower left side, you should see a key marked "CTRL" (Control) There's a second one on the lower right side if you prefer it.
Make sure some text is highlighted; Hold down the CTRL key and press the letter "C" key. This copies the
selected or
highlighted text to your computer's clipboard.
Then with your mouse move the cursor to the area where you want to paste the selection you have just copied. Hold down the CTRL key and click the letter "V" key. This is the paste function.
Another way to do it is to use your Right-Mouse Button . With the selected text highlighted, right-click on the mouse. a menu appears. Choose Copy from the menu. Move the mouse to the area you wish to paste, right-click on the mouse again, and from the menu that appears, choose Paste.
I'm tired so I'm not sure if I've been as clear as I hope.
