Well, got the news today. News that I have been dreading to hear - my mom has cancer. Not sure how advanced, but it is in her lungs. Yep, she is/was a smoker. Used cigarettes to cope with the stress of an abusive childhood with an absent father and poverty, emotionally and verbally abusive husband that more than likely cheated on her (rumors), cruel in-laws, siblings that took advantage of her and disposed of her when she was of no use to them, battling bipolar disorder, dealing with the death of a child, and just an overall sad life. Seems like life has one final insult for her before it is all over.

I'm so sad for her. Yes, we all know smoking is bad, but she grew up in an age where it was acceptable. Yes, she could have quit, but it kept her sanity I think. But she doesn't deserve to die. She has suffered too much in her life and the cruelty of what she has endured and is about to endure just makes me sad. I don't know how to deal with this. I don't know what to say to her now...........

Sorry to hear about this. What type is it? Small cell (likely), squamous cell....has it metasticized to any other organs?

I am sad to read this.

As a benefit to others............PLEASE PLEASE STOP SMOKING !!!!

LEM

Some people just don't get it, they don't get it that they don't get it.

I had the right to remain silent.......but I didn't have the ability.
