I know I've been told many times that ulcers are not caused by stress, and maybe not, but is it a coincidence that my symptoms began on d-day#1? Since then I've suffered with the pain off and on, it not really seeming to be tied to what's going on with us, but I never had the pain until d-day. It also doesn't seem to be tied to what I eat, so I'm going to try to see my doctor about it again next week and get tested for H. Pylori (sp?) bacteria. My mom, sister, and brother have all had bleeding ulcers, and while mine's not bleeding, I'm afraid if I continue to let it go (I am on acid-reducing medication) on like this it will get to that point.

Anyone else had experience with ulcers? What helped?

Thanks!

You're right. Stress doesn't give you ulcers. They are usually caused by bacteria. Stress can sure make your stomach feel bad, though, with all that churning acid.

Thankfully I've never had one, but I've heard they go away with antibiotic treatment.

Thanks,

That's what I'm hoping -- that antibiotics can take care of it. You're probably right that the ulcer itself wasn't caused by stress but the stress has made it feel worse. My #1 choice for ulcer recovery would be marital recovery, but I guess I'll look into the antibiotics as well <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I have a stress related acid reflux problem. Tums are my best friend. Have a refillable prescription for Aciphex so that I can have that available when Tums won't work. I've been through the gall bladder ultrasound to make sure it wasn't that.
