Thanks for honoring the vets Ark.

My 25 year old dear son is a VET!

I'm so proud of him. <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Thank you from California too.

Took our son to the vet's cemetary where we met another family. This is maybe 3rd or 4th time we've done this. The kids tend to the graves. We read some things from The American Reader, and my friend's 7 year old read a poem by Author Unknown about a soldier on Judgment Day.

When I started doing this with our son and his friends, I wondered whether they really "got it". Other people we met at the cemetary were talking with them, and I was impressed with the kids' own words about the vets. I was so proud of all of them, even the ones I hadn't given birth to!

Susan, may your son continue serving honorably and come home strong and healthy to you once again.

The Freedom we all enjoy, and sometimes take for granted, is NEVER free.

A heartfelt Thank You!!! to all who have served, are serving, and especially to those who have "paid the ultimate tab" for our freedom.

God bless and protect you and your families, always.

1.
Half a league, half a league,
Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!
"Charge for the guns!" he said:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.

2.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!"
Was there a man dismay'd?
Not tho' the soldier knew
Someone had blunder'd:
Their's not to make reply,
Their's not to reason why,
Their's but to do and die:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.

3.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of ******
Rode the six hundred.

4.
Flash'd all their sabres bare,
Flash'd as they turn'd in air,
Sabring the gunners there,
Charging an army, while
All the world wonder'd:
Plunged in the battery-smoke
Right thro' the line they broke;
Cossack and Russian
Reel'd from the sabre stroke
Shatter'd and sunder'd.
Then they rode back, but not
Not the six hundred.

5.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon behind them
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
While horse and hero fell,
They that had fought so well
Came thro' the jaws of Death
Back from the mouth of ******,
All that was left of them,
Left of six hundred.

6.
When can their glory fade?
O the wild charge they made!
All the world wondered.
Honor the charge they made,
Honor the Light Brigade,
Noble six hundred.

Why thankyou ARK. I would also like to thank the men and women who are still defending our right to be free. I too am a vet and would defend this great nation with my life if need be, today. Let me tell you about something my daughter and I did for the local recruiting offices here in Phx. I bought pizza for all the recruiters and their spouses/children on one weekend. That was all services. Even the puddle jumpers(coast guard). The look on their faces was priceless. I felt more pride and satisfaction than they could ever know. I was almost in tears because of the pride I felt in their selfless dedication to this great nation. And I will tell you it is selfless. Minimum wage for 24/7 is selfless people, make know bones about it! They deserve our gratitude and utmost respect!
Take a vet to lunch! Let OUR nations keepers and protectors know they are loved, admired and forever in our gratitude!
I think I need to order some pizzas this weekend.
Thanks to all you vets and active duty!!!

I spent the day as I have done for some years at the dawn service, mass and then helping out at the RSL - Returned Services League - Aust version of your VA I guess - making coffees, teas, talking to vets & family...makes me seem close to my Aussie and maybe helps some vets to know we care.

This time I had Mikey and my grown kids. DD says she understands know that she has her own soldier serving why it feels right to say thank you like this. My son dressed in his new uniform, I sewed the Gold 2nd Lieutenant crown & lapel on myself, he looks so handsome. But I don’t want him to go either

There is no glory in war. I see none in the sad eyes of the vets who have seen too much. I see none in the sometimes empty eyes of my husband. He says he's just the best trained to do this job. Such is life.

In a field of dreams
in a distant Afghan valley
where peace runs out
and war once lurked
and has come again
where children once played
and tried to run for cover
darkness reigns in horrid fascination

Where the sun is gone
The stars no longer shine
Where Satan has come
To sing his song of desolation
Bringing despair and death
In the end to all
My love looks up and his eyes
Now shining
He’s come home to his
Addiction
War has claimed another soul

And I remember the mullah’s words
The priest’s sad call
In'sh'Allah! In'sh'Allah!
It is Gods will, it is God’s will
And I so lacking in His grace
I hold my child before my face
I see within them my loves dear face
Gently do I hold our child
A gift from God
A new young soul
And pray to the Lord above
To bring my loved one home safe

In a field of dreams
within a Afghan valley
where peace runs out
my love remember
your child’s young face
his mother’s fate
lays within your earthly state
Come back Oh come back
And I shall spend eternity
Loving thee
And this time get it right

Life may feel as if you are constantly getting kicked on a daily basis, living is about picking yourself up each day and going on and on and on regardless.
