Saw the new movie called "derailed"...with Jennifer Aniston.......well, I know most people here only want to see Christian flicks or whatever....but I like all kinds of movies. I think "potential" Waywards might be advised to give it a peek.
YOU wanna talk about "consequence" of being a Wayward....LOL.

She is "not bad", but I don't want to say too much given that one or two people might want to see it. Overall, she was good....although not the main attraction. The other main characters were better. Thanks. Wow, I just realized how long it's been since I've seen a movie in the theater... "Sin City" back in May! How sad is that?

Sounds interesting. Have you seen "Unfaithful" with Richard Gere and Diane Lane? That was a very good movie and it was SOO realistic in regards to what we see here.
Most people only see Christian flicks here? I never knew that. Where did you get than notion?

This movie "derailed" was not exactly along the same lines (but it had some similarities, but man oh man, it was good....at least I thought. I heard the reviews were not that good, but I liked it. Jughead is at the top of my list... Is that the one where Archie's best friend becomes a marine or do you mean 'Jarhead'? TMCM

Funny you should say that right now. FWH and I are home by ourselves today. We don't have cable so our tv viewing is limited. This awful show called Old School just came on. The first scene is a man catching his girlfriend having sex with someone else. It just keeps on and on this whole first hour.
FWH says he only thinks about HER when I bring her up, but believe me, I have thought about her for this whole show. I finally asked him how in the world he could sit here and watch a show about cheating and not be triggered. He looked surprised. It was like he hadn't realized that seeing cheating might make him (or me) think about his A. He almost looked shocked like "you mean this bothers you?"
Wait, a married man just turned down the advances of another woman. However, he did ask for her number in case things didn't work out with his wife.
Did people actually pay money to see this?
Why does every show have to be so much about cheating. Desparate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy. Every show. It is so frustrating and so many of them really trigger. Does it get easier as you get further into recovery?

Jarhead was great, some infidelity which could be particularly painful for some BS out there, but a great movie we thought.

we went and saw zathura tonight...it was ironically about a single newly divorced dad who moves into old house (same house jumangi was in) and has two sons...
very good movie...son loved it!
now to adultery movies...
there are two for me...and one of them made me so upset that I could not watch it...actually caused me to have a panic attack b/c it was so close to my real life...was "enough"...It was so scary..the ws in the movie was so much like my xwh.
I saw it and started towards the end shaking..could not watch it..my girlfriends wanted me to see this movie b/c they thought it would make me stand up and fight more...it just shook me to the core.
about a rich ws who literally frames his bw and using all his power and money and family to erase her...try to make people think she is guilty of something she did not do...and takes custody of her dd. scary and was at the time something my xws tried to do...
other movie was "sleeping with the enemy"...maybe it's b/c the ws man had black hair and alot of money..or maybe it was because he made his poor wife clean the house sooo darn much she had to turn the soup labels and cans around and stack them in alphabetical order...my xh was a total clean freak...if things were NOT perfect (during time he was ws) he'd rant, rave, and yes, was on a few occasions violent...as he was on the second to last d day...I remember after separating from him feeling like the character in the movie...free for first time in her life...
ironically and sad, the leading actresses in both of these films ended up BECOMING OTHER WOMEN...how sad for them...I will never go see or buy one of their films again. My one woman plot to overthrow immoral hollywood!

xh:38; OW:26;eloped w/OW 1 wk after D: 12/29/03. OC born 3/17/04. Happy! Blessed to be the mother of a wonderful son..great profession..Life's good!

I love going to the movies. I hope you have all seen "Love Actually". Emma Thompson as the betrayed wife weeping over her stupid Joni Mitchell CD totally choked me up, and also the two who are in love at the office but never quite get it together through shyness and family commitments (not adultery). It is a captivating film.
And Lemonman - you haven't replied to ML yet!

I know most people here only want to see Christian flicks or whatever....but I like all kinds of movies. Doc Lemon, you have something prejudicial against Christians? Just what IS a "Christian flick" that you refer to with such distain. Or is this simply another case of "anything but Christian" is "acceptable?" Let's see....maybe the analogy would be "I do surgery on all types of people, but I'd prefer them NOT to be Christian?" Is that the sort of thing you are trying to say? WHY would you want to watch a film on adultery when you already KNOW firsthand how devastating the reality is and that there is NOTHING "nice" or "acceptable" about it? Is it simply "misery loves company?" So perhaps a "Film Review" would be in order as to how it treated the subject of adultery and what "moral message" it advocated to the viewing audience. So how about posting a "film critic's review" so the rest of us can decide it if it's worth seeing or not?

I know most people here only want to see Christian flicks or whatever Lem, I've held off giving you trouble about a few things 'cause... well it's a web forum. But anyway, You aren't reviled or considered any kind of loose cannon here, far as I can see. So if you want to get some real cred as a naysayer and all-around hard a$$, I think you oughta make your views far more radical. Your impression of this environment is not the same as mine. So that out of the way... Christian flicks? Huh? Speaking for myself, some of my favorite movies are the most disreputable things around. In popular entertainment, infidelity is portrayed often as the WS trying to get happy in spite of an abusive and insensitive BS, probably because the people who most often write about it haven't been there. Is my guess. I dislike that portrayal because it places something wholly destructive and nasty in a favorable light, and also because it's horse$H1T. GC

I have observed that anytime a person mentions the word christian or discusses religious topics on this forum....there is a lot of activity, usually heated. This reflects a general mood in the nation IMHO....where the population seems triggered by any side of the issue. Seems to me Lemonman was anticipating this....and instead incited it! Just what IS a "Christian flick" A movie about Christ? To assume it was a movie promoting family, love, forgiveness, honesty, "goodness" would be to assume that only Christians have these values !! An aside... I personally would love to see a boycott on movies involving infidelity....maybe Hollywood film investors would respond to a slowing demand and begin investing in scripts promoting healthy life choices!!! Picket signs anyone!?

Picket signs anyone!? Sorry, no picket line for me. If Hollywood invested itself in only "healthy life choices" films, Anakin Skywalker would have seen the light, stayed away from the dark side and never become Darth Vader, now what is Star Wars without Vader?
