....for everybody and their brother to p*ss me off.

I used to love "The Holidays".....but like them less and less every year.

I still LOVE to decoratate for Christmas...but as for shopping...well..that's another story.

Why do people have to be so rude?
Is that certain toy going to save your childs life? You know...the one you just about gave your life for trying to get by running through a mad rush of people in the department store.
Must you really be the first one in line at the checkout? It's like the Indy 500. People get that look in their eyes...you can see it coming....and then....THEIR OFF.

Do I really have to get up at 3 in the morning to go shopping on the Friday after Thanksgiving? Am I really going to save enough to make it worth my while. Is it worth fighting the crowds of people that DO get up at 3 in the morning and have had 10 cups of coffee and can't stand still waiting for the signal? Is it worth getting your arms scratched by reaching for an item at the same time as a person who claims they "just have to have it"?

Is it really worth listening to the neighbors complain because my H has a Clark Griswald persona when it comes to decorating our house? I would like to say though...he's never outed the power on the whole street....just our house.

AGH!!! The kids are making their lists.....and their getting longer every year...not to mention more expensive.

I feel more and more like a GRINCH.

Would anyone believe me if I said I HATE TO SHOP?

I really do....even just for groceries.

I'm trying to talk myself into enjoying the Holiday Season this year....it's just so hard.

I too hate the holidays after my D-Day last Nov 22. But Miss Priss I told my children they could pick 3 things -2 unexpesive and one a nice gift. That was it. One son like to take sking lessons's they were expensive -he got that plus a couple of gifts under the tree. That was his major gift.
As they are older we only send ck's. I like to send one gift to my oldest who lives far away. Want him to have something to open. I have a hard time decorating for the holidays. Last year I bought a 2' tree in a stand with lights $9.00 I put it up and that was that. My Wh finally put the lights up I was not going there. I just did not care. Now I am faced with anniversary of D-Day and just takingT-Day as a day I cook and clean. No big deal. Only one pie not 4, small amnt of meat or what ever. Ect. I hope next year is better. I do try for my sons that is all.

I'm glad I am not the only one! I thought there was something wrong with me

Miss Priss, I shop on-line mostly. That way I can send my niece her gift directly and I don't have to stand in in line at the post office either. I just ordered my DD an iPod shuffle. It will come in a few days and be put away. This year will be difficult knowing it is our last holiday as an intact family. We are divorcing and stbx is moving out right after Christmas.

This is going to be rough on me this year. I cant just tell my son to pick out a few gifts and when i did he circled the WHOLE book thats what ya get for asking a 3 yr old. My daughter isnt so hard she doesnt know whats going on yet but this is the first christmas my son understands that santa is putting stuff under the tree but hard on him bc he doesnt understand why daddy isnt home. He knows he'll be home soon but not in enough time for him to understand. He thinks his daddy is on the moon.
This is also rough on me bc my brother passed away earlier this year and this is the first holiday w/o him. His birthday is also on Nov. 22 which doesnt make it any better on any of us so this year is going to be horrible. Both without my Husband being around and my brother.

OK. A special delivery for my friends here at MB. Christmas was always my favorite time of the year. In 2003, just 20 days following D-day, after getting no sleep for days and having confided my situation to no one, I took approximately 70 extra strength tylanol PM's. Fortunately, shortly after the PM part had knocked me our, my husband counted those remaining in the bottle and knew what I had done since he had just bought the bottle for me because I couldn't sleep.

I don't recommend this course of action, even tho it is clear that I have, so far, survived the dumbest thing I have ever done. I spent 6 days, including Christmas, in intensive care all the while not knowing whether or not I was going to suffer liver failure and die.

I share this little tale with you here, because for those of you who are new here, rejoice that you found this site. If I had found it, I totally believe I would have not done what I did.

So now, Christmas each year has a different feeling for me, and this year, I will say a prayer of thanks for MB and all of the good things it does for us in our darkest of days.
