I guess I was right in the beginning... There's not much hope for me. :-(

I always think there is hope. I would just continue on with my life, and make it a nice one. He's apt to come around again - you have a relationship that has lasted longer than many marriages.

believer - Thanks... I really just need to hear that somebody else thinks that there may be hope. I'm really trying to stay strong and work on myself. It's just hard to stay positive. Do you think I should change the locks on him? I'm thinking that would just make him think I don't trust him to respect my wishes for him not to be here without permission. It's probably my fault for not laying down the line and asking him sooner... but I only asked him to stop coming in a few days ago. Any thoughts?

I'm no expert. If you don't feel comfortable changing them, then don't. But you might write him and tell him that you will respect his privacy and would like him to return the favor and respect yours. Then if he doesn't, change the locks.

It never hurts to be polite.
