Is anyone comfortable enough to share the ball park figure that was spent for legal fees, court costs, etc. related to establishing CS and V? We are considering going this route, but don't know if we can afford to see it through. Thanks!

I don't know enough to answer this, except to say that when I filed for divorce I learned that attorney's retainers run from $500 to well over $3500. Then $200-$400 per hour I'm sure at least. It largely depends on how difficult or easy OW makes it also I'm sure. Others probably have a much better idea on what they actually spent or if I'm off base with the costs.

My H and I have just priced an attorney. We are apart of a legal services network (the kind where you pay $39.00 a month, and the law firms charge you 20% - 50% less).
The firm that we chose gave us a free consultation and in order to retain their services, it will cost $2,500 up front. We are asking for assitance in setting up Child support. We don't want visitation, or anything else. The attorney said that our case should be very simple and may take about 10 hours of work. If you want to set up visitation, it may be more. It looks like we are being charged $250 an hour.
April - Affair May - OW tells H that she's pregnant June - OW's H calls to inform me of affair and pregnancy August - Present - Working diligently on marriage. In counseling at church. December - OC Born - NO CONTACT! May - DNA TEST NEGATIVE - MY H IS NOT THE FATHER. THANK GOD.
My new Title - BS w/ OCS (Betrayed Wife with Other Child Scare)

We were very lucky in that our attorney gave us free advice (the attorney we consulted for divorce). So, H represented himself and OW paid all attorney fees. If it would have gotten nasty our attorney would have represented us. The more you disagree and argue, the more it costs....

We spent close to $2000 to establish P and get a temporary order for CS and visitation and we never actually went to court. Other woman is now planning on moving out-of-state, so we will be taking her to court to try and stop her, which will probably cost just as much again....ugh.
