Hello everyone. I'm new here, so this is my first time posting. I have a question about something my counselor has said, and hope others might shed a little light. Heres the subject at hand and why he said what he said.

I have been wondering for some time now if my husband might be doing something he shouldn't. Lots of clues that have happened over the past few years to make me think something is up. As I have talked with my counselor about these various things, he has said to me out of all the things I have told him about things that have gone on, this one sticks out in his mind the most, this is what it is.

I received a phone call from a world wide hotel chain not long ago. Yes, hindsight being 20/20 I wish I could go back and get more details on the matter, but its to late, time has passed. I didn't ask any questions because I passed this off as a prank. Heres the phone conversation.

Me:Hello
Guy: May I speak to (insert husbands name)
Me:He is not here right now, may I take a message?
Guy: Yes, he recently visited one of our (insert name of hotel) and left his "updawg" would you please tell him to come get it?
Me: Yes I will.

Now first of all I had no clue at the time what an "updawg" was. Thought it to be rather silly as well. I later found out it can mean different things such as, slang term for "What up_dawg?" It can be a yoga position, a basketball jersey, as well as another word for pot.

As I said, I asked no questions, because I thought it was a prank, not to mention the fact we have another guy that lives in our hometown with the same first and last name as my husband. Could have been meant for him, who knows. I told my husband of the phone call, all he said was it sounded like a prank. Nothing more said on the matter.

As I talked with my counelor about this, I told him the phone call from this hotel was the least of my worries vs other things that have gone on. My counselor then tells me the phone call from the hotel was the one that concerned him the most. When I asked him why, his only answer to me was, "Its least likely to NOT be a prank." HUH?

I don't get that. I don't think he said it to try to get me to see the whole picture, and that it was a possibilty it was him at the hotel, because I know its a possiblity anything is. Even though it may have crossed my mind, my gut instinct tells me it was either a prank, meant for the other guy with the same name or a complete wrong number. Now my question is why would my counselor say, its least likely to NOT be a prank? Is there something I'm not picking up on? Sorry so long.

My reaction when I read the conversation was that it was a prank, and you ruined it for the prankster by saying "Yes I will". The way the prank works is that the person being called, upon hearing the word "updawg", usually says "What's updawg?" Then the person calling says "Yo! Whassup wit you?" or something like that, then bursts into laughter and hangs up. I heard that on the radio one morning when the DJ called a convenience store and asked if they had any updawg for sale, and that's pretty much how it went.

Yes very well could have been. However they asked for my husband to come get his "updawg" not "what up dawg?" And it probably was a prank, so guess if I ruined it for them to bad, they probably shouldn't be playing a prank. Thats pretty childish on their part. And my main question was why the counselor thought it was NOT a prank.

I don't know your situation like your counselor does, so I don't know why he thinks it may not be one, unless he's just totally unfamiliar with the joke. Yes, it is a childish prank; I should have added a wink when I said you ruined it for them. The caller doesn't say "What's updawg?", but they somehow work the word "updawg" into the conversation with the hope that whoever they're talking to asks the big question, "What's updawg?"

Is your husband's name listed in the phone directory for your area? That would give anyone wishing to pull a prank all the information they needed - a name and number.

That's funny <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" /> , I mean the prank. I have to get more hip with the street slang.
