There has been some concern expressed about an outside event. However, we have been having many warm days lately. The last 3 or 4 days have been jacketless days for me - and I'm a little bit North of Stone Mtn.

I'm no more glad than the next guy to stand outdoors in a cold wind and eat hot dogs and baked beans off a soggy paper plate (not that there isn't some charm in that), but it doesn't have to be that way, LOL. (Not if FGG is cooking, and the sun is shining.)

Can we have an outdoor site with a nearby alternate - so that depending on the weather on the actual day we can easily move it indoors?

Just a thought...

Okay, here are my ideas:

Tentative date would be Saturday, February 11 in early - mid afternoon.

The event will be family friendly (for any age).

I suggest the following:

If the weather is nice (meaning sunny, above 70 deg, etc), then we meet at Stone Mountain with a covered dish thing. We can get whatever picnic area is available when we get there. Perhaps we can organize an impromtu softball, football, or some other game to include all family members.

IF it is obvious (by the day before) the weather is not agreeable to an outdoor function, we can meet at Dave & Busters in Duluth. They have relatively inexpensive dining (options from about $6 - $13), a video arcade, and just a cool (groovy?) big place where everyone can kinda have a good time.

http://www.daveandbusters.com

To summarize my proposal:

Date: Saturday, Feb. 11
Time: 1:00 PM - ?
Place: Stone Mountain (preferred)
Dave & Buster's (in case of bad weather)

Okay, hit me with the comments.

I like it! Both options are closer for me than Sandy Springs.

Peach,

I vote agaist the aquarium. You are probably right about inside being better. The 70 degree days coming out of nowhere are probably done for awhile. The aquarium I'm sure is a great place, but I think it has two strikes against it.

1) It's not a place where a group can just sit around and chat. (is it?)
2) Some of the potential participants are on very tight budget - and the ticket price plus lunch/dinner would probably elliminate those folks.

I would love to take DD to the aquarium, but frankly I envision doing that as just the two of us (daughter and myself).
