My husband of only 2 years, while away at a police training facility for four months, has just told me (after alot of pushing on my part as i knew something was going on) that he had sex with another women. He says that it only happened once. He is very sorry that he as caused me so much pain and says that he wants nothing to do with this woman. He cant tell me why he did it but assures me that he wants me and our marriage. He has said that he is going to try very hard to prove that he still loves me. I am of two minds at the moment as i dont think that i can forgive and forget. We dont have any children at this stage but I am worried that in a few years time if he does this again that we will have children to think about. I dont know where to start as to improving my marriage and maybe forgiving my husband. I will never forget his betrayal.

Welcome to marriagebuilders. It is a great place to be under the circumstances.

Most of us have been through this, and were completely devastated by the betrayal of our spouse.

The Harley's say that in a young marriage, with no children, sometimes it is best to just divorce.

You will have to make the decision. It sounds like your husband is sorry, and is willing to work on the marriage. That makes the situation more promising.

He needs to figure out why he did it. Otherwise how can he promise it won't happen again?

It is true that you will never forget his betrayal, but many here have gone on to have happy marriages.

I hope you will stick around and read all of the stuff here. It really helps. We can help you. No one who has not been through it will understand like we do.
