I have a quick question.

Can her Commander make her stay at a hotel while she is here this weekend? She is not on orders, she is here not on leave, Commander and 1st Sgt have told her she can come without leave, but must stay in a hotel.

When I was on active duty if we made some =one stay in a hotel we (AF) had to pay and put on orders.

Confusing.

I spent 26 years in uniform. I have never heard of such a thing as you describe They could restrict her to the base if they wanted to but once they allow her off, it's not controlled or controllable (except for places identified as off limits--but that doesn't apply here). Sounds to me like she's trying to avoid staying at the house with you and the kids. Ask for a written order if she was given one, or suggest to her you're going to call the 1/Sgt or CC to ask for clarification. That might shake something loose.

Your Bio states that she retires on 1 Feb. If that is so and she is active duty she belongs to her unit, but that is unusual..she has to be either on-orders/active duty status or on leave. Is she on what is called terminal leave that you use at the end of a tour/service?

Yeah, that's how it was when I was on active duty, 24.5 in AF. Apparently hospital folks are different from the rest of the AF. Her term leave starts 27 Jan, last duty day 26 Jan, officially retired 1 Feb.

Like I said when i worked at a MAJCOM HQ if the AF said you had to stay in a hotel, the AF (MAJCOM if directed by MAJCOM or SQ if directed by SQ) had to put you on orders and foot the bill. I raised the BS Flag and caught h3ll, she is staying at the house, but was really p1ssed when I raised the BS Flag.

Well, that's what it was, a big red flag with a weird looking bull on it. Very strange she would try something you'd see through so easily.
