I used a GPS to track my WH’s activities and many MB’s suggested that I share the information since it may be helpful to others in the same situation.
I bought my GPS off Ebay. It is a LAS 3100-INT. (Land Air Sea is the brand name.) There are lots of places that carry this model on the internet. I just used Ebay because I got the best price. I paid $250.00 and $25.00 for second day air shipping, so the total investment was $275.00. Probably much cheaper than a PI!
The unit is a little black box with very strong magnets on the back. You just turn it on, replace the cover so no lights show, and stick it somewhere in the car. I put it up on a piece of metal under the plastic bumper in the back. I was nervous that it would come off, but even in a very violent thunderstorm with high winds, it stayed.
The device tracks all the movement of the car and the data stays in the unit. Once you retrieve it from the car, you simply hook it up to you computer using the cable that is provided, and download the data into the software that come with the unit. It is very, very easy.
You get a report that you can print out showing all the driving activity, speeds traveled, time stopped , etc. You can also see a map showing the driving route. Everything you need to know exactly where and when that car went.
If you need more info, I’ll try to help.
Thanks, WTW
P.S. - A HUGE thanks to all who encouraged me to use this. I was able to confirm my suspicions with no room for doubt.

Thanks for doing this.
I knew that my WH was having an affair before I could prove it. I probably spent about $500. in gas and hundreds of hours driving around before I caught him. It took me several months.
Your solution is so much better. Just think, I could have stayed home painting my toenails.

Off topic, but I think this would be a great tool for those who have teenaged drivers in the home as well.

Too bad you can't track in real time!

You do not pay for the reports. The software generates one each time you download the data. It is a one-time investment and you can use it as often as you want. It runs on 4 AA batteries and is supposed to last for about 300 driving hours before the batteries run out.
It is very cool.
They do make a version that can track in real-time, I think. It is quite a bit more expensive, though. I don't know anything about that one.

Mel - I think there are GPS's that send the info to a receiver in your home.

But think of the advantage. My WH and OW loved to go to a local motel. When he was missing, I used to check out the motels in the area. But being in a tourist town, there are hundreds.
If I had the information about which motel, next time he disappeared I could have been knocking on their door at the motel.

Someone also mentioned to me that some cell phones have GPS. I think that they are more for emergencies (finding a missing person, 911 calls, etc), but I don't know if they can be used for tracking. Does anyone know about this?

I think Nextel has it. Not sure about that or about other cell companies. Does someone know?

We have Nextel, and it does list GPS, but I don't know if someone can access it for personal use.
Anyone?

As a point of detail, all GPS receivers need to "see" the sky with their antenna - and a lot of the sky - in order to get transmissions from a sufficient number of the GPS satellites. Otherwise, they're as blind as a WS. (They can "see" through windows, however.)

Why? Then I'd know where she is!
Missed a real good chance about a year ago. She got out and was "rescued" by a good Samaritan - who took her to the DC pound of all places. They tracked me down through the vet in Maryland via her rabies tag. Cost $20 to bail her out.
