Driving to work today I was listening to a political talk show, and they were discussing the American female journalist who has been kidnapped in Iran.
I remembered your previous thread (I am too lazy to find it) discussing whether or not a pregnant woman's WH is "worse" than any other WH.
The answer to that particular question is not in my hands.
But the radio show reminded me of something I wanted to say.
It's about our visceral reaction to putting someone in danger. If a man is placed in danger, we hate that. If a woman is placed in danger, we hate that -- maybe even a little bit more. If a pregnant woman is placed in danger, we really hate that. If a child is placed in danger, it is worse yet.
What I am saying is, the status of the victim does effect us --- our humanity demands that.
If a man murders another man, that is a bad thing.
If a man murders a woman, that is a bad thing too.
If a man murders a pregnant woman --- I start to go crazy hating that man.
If a man murders a child -- I might feel likeI could 'take him out' myself ....
Remember the Oklahoma City Federal Building bombing? Remember the dead babies being carried out of the building by the weeping firemen ? It's a part of our decency, I think, that comprehends some murders as worse than others ... and perhaps this extends into the area of infidelity as well.
In our minds, it is worse when the victim is more dependant and may require increased protection.

Your empathy for the more dependent is fine.
However, it is easy for powerful empathy to give way to non-marriage building assistance.
As a pregnant woman whose's husband was cheating, I rarely talked about being pregnant because people would focus on that instead of helping me save my marraige. Their anger was a huge distraction. Several times I would be trying to work out a problem and well meaning folks would tell me just what they felt about my husband. If I was in a passionate anger, instead of letting me rant, people would encourage me to dump the bum.
I understand the empathy.
I still believe you should treat the WS of a pregnant woman the same way as if his wife was pregnant. And I beleive the pregnant woman should get the same advice as other BS on the Board. Bramble Rose gave great advice on how alnon helps people through their trauma, but I have to help my daughter go to the potty. (Oh, she started. I can hear her little grunts).
