My WW(40) has moved out and is actively carrying on her affair with a much younger OM(26). She has filed for divorce and has shown no signs of ever changing her mind. I am doing fine with this, as the lies she has told me so many times has mostly killed my love for her. We were married for 6.5 years and together for 8 years. We have been separated now for 3 weeks.

My question is regarding her son, my soon to be former stepson(13). He and I are very good friends and I know he didn't want this separation and divorce, and was very happy and stable in our home. I have heard from mutual friends of my WW and I, that the child has changed since the separation and impending divorce. He has became quiet and withdrawn to some extent. I also talked to a friend of mine who is one of his teachers. He told me that the child is still making good grades, but that his demeanor has changed in that he used to be fun loving and always smiling, but now he does his work and doesn't talk or smile much. I love this child very much and I am worried about him.

Is this a usual occurance after a home is broken apart? I have tried to remain in contact with him, inviting him over to play ball or video games, but he is usually short in his answers to me and says that he is too busy right now. I have promised him that any visiting that we do will be fun, with no talking about the marriage or his mom at all. Is there anything that I can do to help him?

Thanks.
