on February 21......
Does anyone have any suggestions on what to ask, what to take to the appointment, etc?
I live in Washington state.
I called a lawyer that was recommended to me, but they have a client with the same name as WH. They don't know if it is him or not (of course, they couldn't say), and I know there are several people with the same name as WH in this area.
So they referred me to another couple of lawyers.
Wish I could find out if it's him or not........

K -
Are you going to the lawyers for separation or divorce?
Also, I work in Seattle and live in the Bell/Redmond area. If you need a referral to a lawyer, my lawyer was wonderful!

Hi K I'm not sure about Wash. state but in any state time is money w/ lawyers. When I met w/ my lawyer I took all my evidence...phone records, photo graphs (of gifts to him from OW), IM messages, MAC withdrawls, copy of recording, PI report...to prove grounds. i.e. mentally crueltly, adultry. And financial statements; bank accounts; property; investments; insurance; tax returns for a couple years, pay stubs, deed to house, title to cars, credit card statements, anything to prove debt or asset. MAKE COPIES OF EVERYTHING FOR LAWYER. saves from them having to do it.
You might want to jot down a time line of events and what you have done to salvage marriage. It helps so you don't get too emotional talking to the lawyer saves time. Remember your lawyer is not your marriage counselor. Get a good female if you can. If your H is in politics or of notarity in your area you may want to look outside. (I went to another county due to my H political connections.)
I've been thinking of you. How are you holding up?

Unfortunatley, WA is a no fault state. I had all information concerning my XH's A but it really only helped with the child custody portion.
Still, it's a good idea to have.
You'll want to have all of your financial info: mortgage stuff, 401 K, retirement, accounts, anything owned or acquired during the marriage. Have your personal financial information and anything you have concerning you husbands.
I'll think of more <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Thanks Cymanca, FIM, and confused......
I live near Mt. Rainier and St. Helens.......so, armed with the questions from "How to Pick a Lawyer", and all the stuff I have copies of myself, I will go to my consultation.
I was also wondering if I should take copies of my labs for proof of the STD that WH gave me.......does that even matter?
Confused, I'm holding up great. This all seems like the natural course that things should take now.
I feel done. Finished. I have no feelings for the man whatsoever. I just don't want him around me - don't want to be part of his life, or have him be part of mine.
A friend advised that I should get all of my ducks in a row before hand, because once the papers are served, the gauntlet will be thrown down, and WH's can get mean.
Right now I feel that if I walk away from this with my dog and personal effects only, that I would still come out the winner (although there are no winners in divorce).
WH is the loser......no matter which way you look at it.

Try here: http://www.legalmatch.com/bd/intro1.html?gclid=COKxhMDujIMCFR_qSAodtEJVjQ or here and here: http://www.attorneylocate.com/city.asp?city_statecode=WA http://www.wsba.org/ In fact, google "WA Lawyers" and you get more hits than Muhammad Ali in round nine. Check with several. Some are not going to be a good fit. Some, to be frank, are not very good. You can D by yourself, if uncontested, in WA. But you may still want an attorney to at least check the paperwork over for you. No sense stepping all over your own rights out of ignorance. Word of mouth is best. Check around your workplace to see who knows who. With prayers,
